Stupid people - how could "they" fond out about you working via a fake SSN when your name is misspelled on the fake SSN card and/or fake Driver's License/State ID Card? They simply cannot. Tell them you never worked, or that you worked and were paid in cash.

To Cash, I'm writing a paper for school about immigration. If you could ,would you explain to me why you would encourage and give advice to someone who is breaking the laws of this country. I am trying to understand why people would come to a country that treats immigrants quite well, and welcomes millions of them each year, like they have only contempt for it?Some reasons I have thought of are that they come from a place where laws are broken without any punishment. Or they don't understand that a country that is built on the rule of law, only works if EVERYONE obeys them. In this country people are trusted to do the right thing. Stop at posted signs, obey no tresspassing signs, leave other peoples property alone, not cheat on your taxes ect.ect.. Although there are people here who are USC who have no regard for the law, most Americans are extreamly law abiding and deserve that trust. If we are letting people who routinely break the law ,immigrate here, I would think we would be in danger of a steep rise in crime. I must say I am certainly not without sin myself, but I am dismayed at the common thread of people who have broken the law and are trying to find some way to either be forgiven or just keep from getting caught.I am not passing judgment on anyone, I am just trying to get an understanding of the reasons you all have. Thank you in advance to anyone who might respond.

Pose the first of your question to a drug addict - why do they take drugs when there is a law against it?
Here is another one for you - How can you say you love God whom you have never seen, but your brother (Illegal, legal, USC)that you see everyday, you hate?
And, why is there a sign posted on the road (a law) that say "don't honk, $350 fine"? Who is that law posted for - Americans or Illegals?
Oh, I love this one - Why do some much Americans cheat on their taxes? Whether it be humungeous or miniscule?

To American, I'm sorry but I really don't understand what you are saying (asking). At no time did I say I hated immigrants. If I came across that way , I am sorry. I actually was an immigration advocate. My original post was explaining how dismayed I was at the amount of fraud being commited by the immigrants posting on this board.I think I must be missing whatever point you were making as I am just confused by your post. If you would be so kind as to give me a little more information. Thank you again. I am grateful for your response.

hello janna. you are right to say that people here are finding ways to solve their problems even to the extent of breaking US immigration law. the immigrants here are like the people of palestine whom israel is persecuting (whatever reason they have). Israel's law are hurting and affecting the Palestinian people hence why we have palestinians bombing israeli's. it doesnt make the palestinian movement right but it doesnt mean the israeli policy is right either. i hope you understand my analogy. the immigration law are hurting the immigrants. once these immigrants came here legally but because of INS/immigration system policies they find themselves in a position that if they leave the US they cannot return for 3/10 yrs hence their stay and becoming illegal. these immigrants are seeking answers to problems that they are in. as much as possible they dont want to break any more immigration law so they are posting questions that would lead to legal solutions to their problems. it is true that some are finding illegal ways and those are innapropriate here. you did see replies to them saying not to break US law right? right now the sytem has to be fixed. it's just a matter of political will. like martin luther king jr. said "it is important to obey the law of the land...but it is also important to oppose the law if it is wrong"

i do not condone the decision to violate immigration law. people should stope answering post like "how can i get fake SS", "can i use SS of my brother", etc. people here should answer problems that will get people out of their present INS problem or to ease their anxiety over their present filings with the INS.

Married Worker, how did you obtain a DL? And upon renewing your DL (if you've stayed here long enough to renew it), I take it you aqcuired it through the same way you filled out your employment forms? Have you thought about the ramifications of this and how this other serious issue plays into your whole situation?

I think the problem is with the system. There should be a system deviced so people could work here without trying to break the system.
I mean this guy here obviously is committing fraud. But why? Too earn a living so he can support himself! Is there anything wrong with that? no! Instead of looting from other people or selling drugs.
I think the system needs to be changed so people dont have to use such measures to just earn a living in this country!
God Bless America

Thank you guys for your advices... Is by any chance any lawyer around that would confirm my advice-guest friend advice... I have made some research by myself and found the case of Beltran-Tirado, where she used false SSN and INS tried to deport her, but the court intervened and carve out an exception tp a conviction for a crime of moral turpitude by allowing the use of a false SSN to further "otherwise legal behavior". Is there any lawyer that already had a similar case and would be so nice and confirmed my informations?! Thank you.

If you get married to a USC, do not lie to the INS from that point on. Tell them what SSN you worked under and tell them that you did work. They will find it strange that you have been in the country and had no means of supporting yourself. I hope you have also filed taxes for the period that you worked. The people at the INS are not animals. They know that you have to live. The most important fact is that you entered the country legally. Do not lie anymore, it will only hurt you.

This poster is right. This is the advice to follow. It's good to hear that someone says INS workers are not animals. They treated me very good and I had a good experience. The fees and some forms are hard, but it can be done.
"Married worker" says he worked under his real name and used a real american DL -- that is to say he has lied to the DMV of the Secretary of State: this is a misdemeanor. Careful. I guess if he doesn't mention the employment whatsoever to the INS and eventually be granted the green card, he'll need to apply for the Driver's License using the real SSN he'll be assigned -- while his picture and fake SSN being associated with his existing Driver's License. Careful.

"no problem" said: [You have no problem whatsoever - because you are married to an American citizen, INS forgives you for working without authorization. ] Is this true??? It seems that being married to a US citizen forgives a lot of things. If my boyfriend comes here illegally and I marry him, then what? Will it keep him from being deported if caught up with later? What effect does marriage to a US citizen have? He had to go back to Mexico for a family emergency. His status was overstayed when he left, so the only way he can really come back now is illegally. What hope do I have?

When you go to apply for your adjustment of status. DO NOT actually mention that you had a social security number or pretended to be an American. However, do not lie about it. First, working illegally is common and is not generally a major problem for adjusting status, etc.
Pretending to be a USC however is a very serious crime for which you can be barred from the USA for life with no chance for a waiver.
You will want to present this information in such a way that it is presented, and it is there (i.e. that you used a false social security number to work) but nothing indicates that you claimed at any time to be a USC. (It could go unnoticed, but someone in a bad mood could decide to stick it to you)
The idea is to put it there (so that if you are ever discovered you can say, "but see that information is here, I never lied, nor misrepresented myself") however, the information should be extremely easy to overlook or not notice... like one sentence in one of 100 papers that you submit -"I worked under a false social security number for - years" or on one application list your job under previous employment or something to that effect, as long as you feel that it can go unnoticed!
