My wife graduated from a US college in December and in January received a card that reads "Employment Authorization Card" with the terms "Student: optional practical training." At the top is says it is from USCIS.

On form I-765, she has to mark if she is applying for permission to accept employment or renewal of permission.

Which one should she check? Is the practical training card she has now the same EAD she is applying for this time?

The new EAD is necessary because the practical training one expires in January and she needs to be able to stay here while the I-485 is in process.

Thanks.
