Hi, everyone

My husband is H-1B visa holder. He was laid off recently. We have to leave for our home country. However, since our son was born here, he is US citizen. He Definitly deserves to live here and get US education. My husband and I are first generation to US. Even we work hard, we still can not completely accept by American. We don't want our baby face the same problem as ours. Meanwhile, our son know nothing about our native language. If he go back with us, he will be rejected by people. Can someone give us some good idea about our baby. I don't think this is only problem that our family encountered. A lot of alien workers have the same problem. Let's find the best to resolve it!!!

Best Wishes to all of you!
Helen

How old is your baby? Until he/she becomes 21, there's nothing your child can do to help you and your husband to remain in the US .
I am a foreigner raised in the US when I was young. I spoke very little of my language when I went back to my country at the age of 12. Children can adjust really fast. I learnt to read and write my native language within couple months.

Helen,

Your description sounds like you anticipate some hardship to your US citizen child in the foreign country. Isn't there a procedure where you can apply for US visa based on the need to avoid hardship to your US citizen child? You may want to check this with immigration attorneys as soon as possible, there may be a big difference in what you can do while you are still here and in status vs once you leave the country.

what country are you from? sometimes asylum is granted or hardships can be proven based on the country.
