I thought for a moment I was overeacting. You and the others I have come to know as good people have been sometimes been the only people I can rely on for honest answers to the questions that plauge almost everyone who picks up one of thos forms. For those who do not understand, it is like doing your takes with the 1040 for the very first time on april 14 with a clock in front of you. A four inch stack of documents may be easy to accumulate, but making sure each of them is correct is something entirely different. I am thankful to those who understand.

Thanks Aroha;
One thing that I have come to rely on is my wife's positive attitude when she tells me she thinks everything will be fine. I told her about the people here who help me with the questions I have and she asked me to convey her thanks to all of you

Been there, done that, mate. I think I spent probably $45 in stamps alone just getting things back and forth between USCIS and NVC. It's overly complicated for what it should be and I hope things go well for you!

I think the worst part of it is that once it hits the NVC, there's stuff that they send you that you need to send to your spouse that he/she needs to send back to the NVC ... couple of them actually. It adds some serious time onto it.

But, if you're doing K3 Honestly, it may not matter. I think JC and I have already mentioned we had a bad experience with that route. I hope your luck is better!

Either way, he and I both understand how convoluted the paperwork is. I remember sitting here staring at our medical forms wondering where the photos were supposed to go and exactly which parts I was supposed to fill out and which parts I had to leave alone, because none of it was clear. I wound up leaving it be and asking once I got to the clinic.

Aroha;
Yes it is very true that the difficulty seems to be in the design. Kind of like the theory, "if it was easy, everyone would be doing it". You had a bad experience with the
K3? I did not see that in your posts. I will surely speak with you more as I go aong.
Wish you both well

Perhaps it wasn't in one of your threads, Honestly.

What happened with us was that by the time we got an RFE on our I29F (despite sending exactly the same evidence as for everything else), we'd already paid all the immigrant visa fees and our file was about to go to the Consulate. If we had responded to the RFE, it probably would've wound up taking longer to get the K3. We got the distinct impression that they didn't take the K3 application at all seriously and had basically ignored it in favour of the IR1.

That most likely won't happen to you, but the one thing I will say is that if it gets to the point where you've started paying the immigrant visa bills before hearing anything about the K3, just go that route. It'll save your wife having to jump through any more hoops. LOL.

Hello Aroha;
I think every day i hear something new but I never did the I-130 before and I understand it is for an immigration visa while the K-3 will be a two year non-immigration visa, but can you tell me about the immigration bills you speak of? I have been wondering what happens from here and what my options are. Of course USCIS will not tell me so I ask someone who has been there recently. I know I will recieve the receipt for the I-130 and then i can submit the I-129F with a copy of the receipt, but what happens with the I-30 and I-129F running at the same time? What will be the next step in the I-130 process? It would be wonderful if the I-120 only took six months but I doubt that. If the I-130 comes through while she is not here what do I do? I don't think USCIS will walk me through it, they might but i am not planning on it. I know she would like to come and be able to work right away but i know there is more to be done. When I submitted I sent only the I-139 and the G325A. I hope I do not get the rfe and send much more than they ask for. As we go through this my wife and I will ry to visit here as often as we can to help those who need it when I can speak from experience.
Thanks a bunch

Sorry Aroha;
I really should not type without my glasses.
I really did mean the I-130 that I sent.
Sorry for the confusion. I'll grab the specs next time

What is your question?
Try to formulate it in one sentence.
If you have more than one question, use one sentence for each, no more!!!

Lets stick it on your mouth and see how long, but superglue or monkey glue would be far far better

Hi Honestly,

Yes, you can file the I29F once you have the receipt. They will begin to process the I-130 as usual though.

Once it's approved, it goes along to the NVC where they'll start processing for the CR visa (conditional residency). They'll assign an IV number and send some documents out to you, some of which your wife will need to fill out. The first one is the Choice of Agent form, in which she tells them who she wants the paperwork sent to basically. After that, there's a few other things. The bills are the fees for the Affidavit of Support and the Immigrant Visas.

The biggest difference between the CR and the K3 is that the K3 is a non-immigrant visa and you'll have to adjust her status once she arrives. With CR, she gets her residency as soon as she goes through the point of entry.

I guess it's a matter of what goes faster.
