I have an Employment Authorization card from INS on 06/26/2002.(I had applied like suppose,married).After that I have been applied for Social Security Card to Social Security Office Oklahoma/Ada (date On 06/27/2002 ..) and They told me that you will get Social Security Card by mail almost 30-45 days later.
26 days later (on 07/23/2002) I get a mail from Social Secocurity Office Oklahoma/Ada..
They wrote me that ;
Mr,
Before we can process your request for a social security number ,we need moore information.Please come by our office as soon as possible..When you come please make sure to bring your I-94 and your work authorization card..Thank you..

I went to office immediately same day..Social Security Officer buyed photocopy of my Employment Authorization Card that’s it..Than she contunied ,told me that“Your Social Security Card Proccessing)..

Today have been 49 days since my Social Security Card Application.We went Social Security Office again for to get information ..we asked what is the last news about my Social Security Card Proccess...They told me We send your application to INS/Dallas..We are investigation you..I can’t tell any date for that When you get a Social Security Number before INS advise to us..

So,May I learn that How long will it takes usually social Security Proccessing Time for me..??
Please may you give me some advise or information? What must I have to do?

A social security card takes about 10 business days. You need to go back and ask what happened. Also, the clerk should be able to give you your social security number by now even if she/he does not have the actual card issued.

Off course ..I went today and I asked..Social Secirity Officer says We send your all SSN Application form to Dallas INS for approval.They can't give me any time for this proccess..I don't know what's going on...I've been waiting since 50 days for a social security card..

INS says you can work,Social Security Office Says you can't work without SSN..??????/

You need to have approval from the INS to work and to be able to work you need a SSN#.

First you get permission of the INS, then you get your SSN.

Since you had to take more documents to them, it'll probably be a little longer.

Usually it takes 10 days like Miki said. I don't know why it would take longer. Maybe this is a new thing?
I would wait a few more weeks and if you don't hear anything and if they are unwilling to tell you anything, call your senator's office.

There is now a new policy by SSA before they will give the SS numbers to applicants. They have to verify the authenticity of your documents, and in your case, it is your working permit. Usually it will take about 45 to 60 days on the average before they can get confirmation with the INS. I know even a friend who took longer to get his SS# then his GC. The only thing you can do for now is just to wait.

I am in florida ,Last year I got work permit, it took me 65 days to get SSC after filing .They have new procedure of checking now so wait and you will get

Hi,my husband got his ead approved and we filed for the ssa # it took about 2 months to get it back.I think they varify all documents now and it takes longer in some states then others Sorry about your delay good luck.

President.. don't give your hopes up. Others are also experiencing delay as well. They are probably not used to cross reference check with INS since this has just been implemented in early July. I read about those poor people that came here on K1 with a 90 day EAD stamped but don't get their SSN within that time.. it was just a waste. You might want to go and check the information with another SSA office in your town. They sometimes give different info. ;)

Today I went to INS for to give my second serial of my fingerprints (I think they will send that to FBI)..By the way I asked to INS officer that I applied to SSN and they didn't give me any answer since 55 days..
INS officer told me this is impossible,cause you have got Employment authorization card..We gave you this card for that You get a social security number.This time you may to go center of SS office and you do not say that I was Applied for SSN before them.Yes,After a couple minutes I was at SS office center..And I tried to apply again for SSN,but SS officer check up my ID and she said "Did you apply for SSN before us?" I said yes but your other branch didn't give me any answer since 55 days..I'm waiting ..
She said that "Sir,you have been apply for SSN as like B1 visa status.For B1 visa foreigner we have to investigate from Dallas INS office center..But you says that I'm married in us..If you married US why your visa type is B1?... Now,you have to go to INS and tell them I need K3 visa status for SSN...If you can get me your K3 visa status we can procces your SSN application.."
I return back to INS,and explained everythings INS officer..She said "I can't give you K3 visa,cause your visa is B1..I think SS officer is rookie and they don't know what laws says.Now go to SS office and tell them I wanna speak with supervisor.."
I returned to SS office again and I told I wanna speak with supervisor.Supervisor accepted me,and I explained everythings..At the and he said induvidual think and said that "Sir I can't any solition for you ,cause you have been applied for SSN to our other branch office.But I can say that we're waiting advise from INS/Dallas..When they will say to us "YEs this person can get SSN"we can send your SSN..But up the present we can't do nothing..You have to wait.After september 11 our all proccessing is changed..Sorry..

Now I'm waiting :) what can I do..All I have to do wait wait and wait..

That's awful that they give you a run around. There's something I don't understand and hope you can clarify this to me. I didn't take the K visa route, not the K3, so I don't really understand how it works. How can you be on a K3 visa and B1 at the same time? Aren't you suppose to get a K3 visa, as I understand in your passport or some type of approval before coming to the US? Doesn't make sense to me that you got EAD while on B1 for K3 visa. (???) Please explain if you don't mind. Wish you good luck at get the number soon.

I had to get 10 years B1,B2 visas before to been here..(from my country US consulate).
But I don't understand that.as you say how I will get same time B1 and K3 visas? This is impossible off course..Also INS staff told me this is impossible,I can't get you K3 visas.But Social Security Staff Insist about it.She says if you can't get me K3 visas from INS ,I can't proccess your SSN application.
So,I think all I have to do wait..I'm waiting answer from Dallas INS now..Dallas INS center investigation all kind SSN application and they approve it..
By the way ,yes I have AE card ..A had to get it with B1 visa..

Anyways, have you tried calling 1-800-772-1213?
It's SSA and MAYBE.... they can give you SSN.
A couple of people called and got their SSN.

I have good news,I get a mail today from Social Security.They says that "You'll get your social security number almost two week...By the way there's a notice says If you wanna work in US you have to be approved from INS..:)) Off course,I have Employment Authorization card..I think everythings going to OK.(Little late but it works)..
