Like I said before: you're not a true patriot nor a true American if you don't want to know the truth. And you haven't read the entire thing because if you did, you would know those people were picked up randomly in the streets or in their beds at night while asleep. They were not terrorists. 95% of the people in Guantanamo Bay and Abu Grhaib were not terrorists but ordinary people.

What the h*ll do you know about being an American? You're not a citizen. You're a bloody ignorant RESIDENT who has no political sway over anything here.

And anyone who takes the Daily Kos or Huffington Post as FACT is as STUPID as anyone who takes Michael Savage or Rush Limbaugh as FACT.

An intelligent person pays attention to things like REALITY. REALITY says the country will be torn into an economic shambles if Obama gets his way with taxing the profits on oil companies. Do you know why? BECAUSE THEY'LL MAKE THAT MONEY UP ANYWAY.

REALITY says 100% of the people placed in Abu Grhaib and Guantanamo Bay were ENEMY combatants. Now I do not agree with what those soldiers did. I wore my uniform with pride and to see that BS made me sick. But the people who were in those prisons were ENEMIES.

So pull your head out of your backside, take some time to UNDERSTAND where the other side is coming from, present an INTELLIGENT argument or article, or shut the h*ll up and quit wasting our time with your mindless drivel.

Interesting points of view from everybody. I didn't realize I was being a de facto Democrat in my first home country due to my inordinate love for Starbucks lattes! Big Grin

On a more serious note, I read the travails of the people in Abu Gharib and it's disturbing. Frown There should be a better way to deal with those proven to be terrorists. I believe Communists and dictators would descend to that level of torturing but I do have a higher expectation for my second home country.

Here's the latest based from the Rasmussen Reports:

Presidential Tracking Poll

I can understand the Democrats' passion - a change is in order. On the other hand, I can also understand the Republicans' conviction - the next President should have experience and leadership.

Let's all agree to disagree re politics. And, may the best man win. Smile

Don't believe everything you read. There are those that will publish anything to further the anti-American agenda. Even if it is true. Is your innocent relatives life less valuable than the techniques imposed on the person to extract the information to save their life?

You voted democrat. This country is not worth sneaking into any more.

Yes, I'm aware that there are those who exaggerate just to incite hatred towards the USA. I just hope that that article isn't entirely factual, especially if those victims are not really terrorists but only accused to be. About the choice of tactics to get the facts from those proven to be terrorists, I can't say anything. Frown

I agree its a tough call. On one hand you have people's lives you're trying to keep safe. The other is decency in interrogation. Which is more important? Add to that the unknown factor. Is the person even guilty or know anything of value? This is like the screening at airports. Each of us knows that we are not carrying anything explosive and don't like being inconvenienced with taking our shoes off or being groped. The problem is the screener doesn't know. All are guilty until proven innocent. Would we prefer the quicker lines and no security?

Question is this: what works best in practical terms?
Answer to it should determine what course of action to be taken.

The rest is rhetoric.

I agree with you, I'm leaning more on the side of having everybody harassed and inconvenienced, just to ensure that maximum security measures are enforced. I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of those interrogators. I don't know if I can sleep at night with a heavy conscience because of what needed to be done for the sake of the majority of the innocent people.

Hi Sabuntium,

I guess you and Davdah are on the same page on this one.

If it were me, I would still ponder on that "rhetoric." Smile

What McCain and Obama will do about gas

Gas at $4 brings promises, pandering

By TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer
Mon Jun 23, 7:39 PM ET

Like two rival filling-station owners across the highway in long-bygone price wars, Democratic Sen. Barack Obama and Republican Sen. John McCain keep putting up flashy signs and offering new incentives in hopes of attracting customers battered by $4 gas prices.

McCain is offering a summer break from the 18.4-cent federal gasoline tax, and holding out the promise of more offshore drilling to help you drive more cheaply to the beach. He wants to build 45 new nuclear reactors to generate electricity. On Monday, he proposed a $300 million government prize to anyone who can develop a superior battery to power cars of the future.

He may even wash your windows.

If you pull into the Obama station, he'll promise you cash back from the windfall-profits tax he plans to slap on Big Oil. Check the tires? How about promises to go after oil-market speculators who help drive up prices as well as big subsidies for solar, wind, ethanol and other alternative-energy projects? The Illinois senator likens his energy package to the Kennedy-era space program.

Oil and gas prices that have doubled in the past year have squeezed aside the war in Iraq as the No. 1 issue this election year and both parties are blaming each other for the price spike — and for apparent congressional paralysis

Both of them will promise you s-hit before the election and after they have won, they will flip you finger. I assure you that will be the case. That is the first lesson of politics. Promise Heaven, Delivery Hell. Big Grin

McCain & Obama - A Stark Matchup

A nice article about the differences about our two major candidates. This is specially for those who aren't supporting either of the two or those who can't vote yet. Smile

They can not deliver either. Our Gov can not control world wide demand increase and the devaluation of our currency. The two biggest contributors to the current gas price.

All we can do is open up exploration for oil here. Even then, we need more refineries and a lot of time to get it to the pump.

I agree with that. There must be a way to do it that is environmentally safe somehow.
