Back to to the original challenge, you thought Hillary would get the nomination and I think it will be Obama. I guess that was the bet - lol!

It will probably be Hillary but it will be very close. A little too close to call. Ok, how about this. 2 hours for the Democrat nomine? You take Obama and I'll take Hillary. Are we on?

You voted democrat. This country is not worth sneaking into any more.

Hey, I guess we have something to look forward to between ProudU and Davdah's bets! Big Grin

Just wondering - what do spouses do when one votes for a Rep. and another votes for the Dem.?
(My hubby's voting for McCain and he won't have any problem of my vote clashing with his vote since I still can't vote.)

You see Mrs B. I just confirmed my thesis with PUSC and Davdah's narrow minded views.
The country is not "ready" for a woman or black president.
They don't see the big picture because of the narrow views.

Hi Iperson,

I can't say much about that - still new to the country to understand all the nuances. Discussions from opposing sides do help since all points of view are brought to the fore.

But I find interesting that illustration you made in this thread and the other thread. Smile

With all due respect, there is a big difference between being narrow-minded and being realistic. I can't speak for Davdah, but my beliefs do not fit into either of your graphic illustrations.

Hi Mrs. B.,

Voting for a particular candidate is a personal choice and one that should be respected between spouses. If you want to vote Democrat and your husband is a Republican, he will need to accept that. If not, stay away from the subject of politics entirely! Go to the polls and vote for the candidate who best represents your beliefs and values (and don't tell your husband - lol)!

You might want to think of it this way. James Carville and Mary Matalin are married. One is a Democratic strategist and the other is a Republican strategist. Yet, they live as husband and wife and share common interests. They just don't bring work home LOL.

Another good example of a couple with mixed political affiliations is Arnold Schwarzenegger (Republican) and Maria Shriver (Democrat).

Hi ProudU and Hudson,

Those are good points. My immediate thought was "Why bother?" if spouses would just cancel each other votes - but then, it won't do good if everybody were to think of it that way.

Anyways, I'm still learning about American politics and I still don't have to decide whether I'm going to be a Rep. or Dem. Smile

Hi Mrs. B.,

I wouldn't think of it as canceling out each other's votes (when the time arrives that you can vote and don't agree with your husband's choice). Every single vote counts, no matter what! Voting is a right that all USC's should take seriously. Sadly, poor voter turnouts occur all the time. I can't understand someone not wanting to exercise their voice when they are given the opportunity.

Hi ProudU,

Yea, you're right. I can't wait to be able to vote myself. (Maybe I can join you and Davdah in the future in guessing who would win. Wink)

I'm glad you feel that way, Mrs. B. I can't speak for Davdah, but I would welcome you into our contest with open arms. It's all in good fun.

Warning: republicans only pretend to be nice. In fact they are not. They like to fake smiles.

Iperson it seems your mind is stuck in the socialist style of thinking of your home country. That being the case I can't fault you too much for not grasping the free market capitalist ideals. In time you'll learn to appreciate what opportunities you have and perhaps exercise some of them. You don't have to be miserable or spiteful of the rich as in your old country. You can be one here.

You voted democrat. This country is not worth sneaking into any more.

McCain Declared the Winner of Louisiana Caucuses

by FOXNews.com
Saturday, February 2, 2008

It’s official. John McCain has been declared the winner of the Louisiana GOP caucuses held Jan. 22.

The state’s primary is Feb. 9, but more than 10,000 Republican voters in the state attended the late January caucuses to select delegates to the state convention. Though preliminary results showed McCain won more delegates than any other named candidate, officials still had to verify the eligibility of Republicans who used provisional ballots and clear up confusion over delegate candidates running on more than one slate.

The Republican Party of Louisiana issued formal congratulations to McCain Friday.

In a letter to the McCain camp, state GOP Chairman Roger Villere Jr. said McCain likely will receive 41 of the state’s 47 delegates to the Republican National Convention.

The Arizona senator already had trumpeted the preliminary results as a sign of his growing momentum. He’s scored back-to-back victories in the South Carolina and Florida primaries, and national polls show him ahead going into Super Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Don't take this the wrong way.. GO HILLARY.

LOS ANGELES (AP) Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama, after weeks of sharp attacks, adopted a new, cordial, tone ahead of pivotal election contests next week that could go a long way in determining the Democrats' presidential nominee. .... Hillary Obama Debate
