He is not the first candidate. There were others over the years, but he is the first nominee. He also was the first candidate that made it so far in the primary. That's what they're refering to.

Hey Mrs. B - Yup I am not going to vote in this upcoming election. Finally, I have come to senses that all of them give you hopes, make promises, this and that, and once they get there with our votes, they tend to forget the dreams they had shown us. Then they are in bed with riches, corporate America, lobbyists....Poor us average citizens Frown. Have to bring back the good ol West and Jesse James Wink

You know what, you're right! I am one of those who merely accepted the media's viewpoint - hook, line and sinker. Glad you pointed that out.

Mrs B

Actually, the point I was making was why are they referring to Obama as Black, when he is 50% white and 50% black. Now if they said he was the first bi-racial nominee, this would be more accurate.

I think it is totally unacceptable that he is referred to as Black, when clearly he has 2 roots. Like I said Mrs b, if he looked like Harry Connick jr Harry too is the same as Obama, the end result just came out different.

When people say dumb things like... "if he was a white candidate" then...... Well he is a white candidate and at the same time he is a black candidate and he is a bi-racial candidate.

Why cant he just be the Democratic Candidate. the stupid media and culturally deprived mentalities in america are beyond ignorant. If he does become the president, then this is certainly something he will have an impact on... taking the face away from race in the usa.

Your right! I don't like that either, but that is just what America is. In America, everybody is first "something" - like, Russian, English, Scotts, etc. and then they are American. That will have to go if America ever wants to become "one". Hardly one of today's blacks in America is pure black, because they are all mixed and carry the blood of white slave owners or whomever. The law says, that you are black if you carry just one drop of black blood within you. For bi-racial black people, there is really no race classification. Have you ever filled out these questionairs, there is no classification, unless you want to call it "other". But, we could invent one: How about "The Golden Child"!

Husdon: ACTUAL STATS. And don't tell me 36% isn't a significant portion:

quote:
In Arizona, for instance, 36 percent of all identity theft is for employment purposes, compared with only 5 percent in Maine, a state with far fewer illegal aliens. “To many law enforcement leaders in Arizona, this suggests that Arizona’s identity-theft epidemic is directly linked to the problem of illegal immigration,” says a recent report by Identity Theft 911, an Arizona company that helps businesses and individuals protect themselves.

So you're not a fan of Affirmative Action? That's really the only reason those questions are asked.

What law is this Kollerkat..? I believe these slavery laws were repealed in most states.

I believe the correct answer is "other" if one does not qualify for any other answer. What I find amusing is the category for "white hispanic" and "non" white hispanic. Confused What is that about Roll Eyes

Bi-racial category that should be on questionaire is not just about black and white.. It covers any 2 ethnics/races that produce an offspring . USA People are just nosey, and so culturally deprived that when they cannot figure out a person's ethnic background, they often just ask a person "What are you." They have to ask this because the stereotype on the tv (only exposure of culture many are getting) does not fit. Sad.

You know what... Obama if he gets in may help change some things in that regard. It will be typical DEMOCRATIC BIG $$ spending on lots of cultural programs/race relations.. but in a way it may be worth it in the the long run to educate the peoples and help them grow together to get past this ignorance and help them become culture saavy. This way they will not be in the dark anymore and can enjoy the richness of the people here to not miss anything.

I have not read Obama's plan about the veterans, but I hope he is not just talking for the sake of talking. I did miss if he had any plans for the homeless. I did not see any..

iperson, or kollerkot.. do you have any info on this?

Lol 4now. It won't be any big spending at all. You don't know Barack Obama at all, but that's ok, there's time to learn more about him.
Big spending contrary to popular belief characterizes the republican Bush administration which threw away around a trillion dollars literally out the window never to be seen again. So a billion here or there for the poor isn't exactly going to be the reason for this country's impending bankruptcy.

But on the topic, exactly on the homeless (lol 4now- I remember our talks a few months back on this), and the vets- you can learn about issues at his website. It's best to register at www.my.barackobama.com where you can interact with people in your area and score points. Each time you login you score a point. For every phonecall you make you score 3 points. For participating in events you get 5 points, etc.
There's a lot you can do for Barack.

You know, I want to say that I am really happy for you. Welcome to the Obama nation. It is only going to get better from now on.
There is a great blog at dailykos.com with millions of people writing every day. You can join that too.
And I am sorry I called you a racist earlier on, which you clearly are not.

OK - so I go back to Obama's website to find this:
quote:
Integrate Service into Learning

* Expand Service-Learning in Our Nation's Schools: Obama will set a goal that all middle and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year. He will develop national guidelines for service- learning and will give schools better tools both to develop programs and to document student experience. Green Job Corps: Obama will create an energy-focused youth jobs program to provide disadvantaged youth with service opportunities weatherizing buildings and getting practical experience in fast-growing career fields.
* Expand YouthBuild Program: Obama will expand the YouthBuild program, which gives disadvantaged young people the chance to complete their high school education, learn valuable skills and build affordable housing in their communities. He will grow the program so that 50,000 low-income young people a year a chance to learn construction job skills and complete high school.
* Require 100 Hours of Service in College: Obama will establish a new American Opportunity Tax Credit that is worth $4,000 a year in exchange for 100 hours of public service a year.
* Promote College Serve-Study: Obama will ensure that at least 25 percent of College Work-Study funds are used to support public service opportunities instead of jobs in dining halls and libraries.

This sounds like a particular program that was instituted in Germany in the 1920s through the 1940s.

And what are you getting at Germ?
That Obama is going to be a Hitler and is preparing to brainwash the Americans to attack another country for its natural resources and then another, and another to expand democracy?
Wait, I think it just has been done by BushCo.
Hmm...

You know why Hitler wanted to incorporate especially Ukraine to its ever expanding empire?
Learn some history hillyboy.

What I'm getting at, iSlime, is that I don't see a need for government-required community service for free-minded individuals.

As for the brainwashing, that mission has already been accomplished.

FYI, I did my service of my own accord.

John Edward could have endorsed Obama during the primary in North Carolina but he did not because he thought Hillary might have the chance to win the nomination given when the momentum was her side after winning in PA with a big lead. So the timing of John Edward's endorsement is apparent that he wanted to endorse the candidate who could get nomination so that he could have a chance for VP or a cabinet posting. Sneaky people. They don't think what is best for the country rather they look for their own interest.

Similarly, the Congresswoman from CA, Maxine Water, who has been the most passionate Clinton supporter. She even played a big role to fight against Republican during Bill Clinton's impeachment process and Al Gore's contest during Florida voting mess in 2000. She right away switched her vote from Hillary to Obama on Tuesday afternoon when she realized that Obama is going to clinch the nomination because he was just 12 delegates away at that time. She is the same Congresswoman who told numerous times during this campaign that Obama is the most inexperienced person in the Congress. She has even called him a boy many times. But she couldn't wait to jump on a winning bandwagon once she realized he is going to get the nomination soon. Her endorsement had not made any difference at that time. All these politicians jump on winning bandwagon for their own political future.

Hillary had no desire to concede when she gave speech on Tuesday evening as she wanted to go up to the convention in Denver, but her most passionate supporters started talking against her for the political gain. For example, the governor of PA, Ed Randal, one of the most passionate Hillary supporters, started talking about her dropping out when he realized he is on Obama's list for VP.

Charlie Rangle, a Congressman from Bronx, NY, and a big Hillary Support started talking Hillary to concede and endorse Obama when he realized he has a good chance in Obama's cabinet.

Almost more than 200 superdelegates were uncommited as they didn't endorse anyone but when they realized Obama is so close to clinch the nomination, they all started endorsing Obama one by one in a row including Jimmy Carter. They all wanted to jump on a winning bandwagon knowing train was leaving the station.

That's why Hillary has decided to concede and endorse Obama. I think the reason she has decided to keep her delegates until the convention because it's part of her strategy as in these 5 months up to general election some superdelegates might change their mind or DNC might strip Obama from their ticket if something big issue comes up about Obama. Who knows. And Hillary also knows that she has a very good chance to be the President in 2012 if Obama loses this time which goes the same for Mitt Romney on Republican side.

Politics is really a dirty business.

What a load of slime and carp.
Randal from the very beginning was saying out loud on tv that if Obama gets nominated he would support him from the bottom of his heart and do everything for him to get elected.
He's said it at least twenty times, at least I heard him say it that many or more times for months.

Jasmin, why are you such a parrot? Just repeat what some idiot writes somewhere at a hillary fanatic blog. Use your brain or whatever remaining grey cells you've got.

Bla bla bla Jasmin. At least when you quote someone use the quotation marks and give a source and links.

By all means, he is one of the better choices. This man will be able to lead and run country, as opposed to demagoguery and Quixotism.

As to illegal immigrants (those who visit this site may care to know), he will set the middle cour
