Which two candidates and ultimately the winner?

Vote Republican and this country will still be worth sneaking into.

I think it will be Obama and McCain. I can't call the winner until I see who their running mates are. So you need to stay tuned . . .

Ok, so we're basically challenged on Obama or Hillary? Or the ultimate winner, McCain or Obama?

Vote Republican and this country will still be worth sneaking into.

Not likely. Ron Paul has allot of money raised and very strong support from his followers. However these are not the reasons why he will stay to the end. For him and his supporters it's about getting his message out and to build a future base. He may even run as a third party candidate. Most of his supporters do not think he will win the Republican nomination. Some speculate that Bloomberg will enter the race and that Paul as a third party candidate could get enough votes in a four way race. Or that the economy will worsen to the point over this year where people will sit up and take notice and ask questions. Paul is clearly not establishment with his ideas on how to turn things around. This might have some resonance with these newly awakened people if they get good and angry at those that got us into the mess. RP is a long shot for certain.

I missed your post earlier, but wanted to add SADLY, that Ron Paul stated very early in the race during a debate that he would NOT run as an independent. Let's hope he changes his mind.

That being said . . . Ralph Nadar is trying to get money together to run as the SPOILER/INDEPENDENT 2banghead

Hey Davdah I think Obama and the Mummy aka McCain will be the doomsday candidates of choice. Our last hope is Ron Paul changing his mind and running as an Independent. There are a lot of angry, disgruntled Americans in this country looking for a way to ditch the status quo. I think if he does we could actually win and take our country back.

British Youth, With Year to Spend, Hits Trail for Obama (even the Brits are helping lol)

Barack Obama is getting some youthful help from overseas in his fight to beat Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The Time of London reports that one of its own and a few other British ex-pats are giving a hand on the Obama campaign.

The Times spoke with Edmond Nicholson, 18, of Lewes, East Sussex, who is spending the year campaigning for the Illinois senator free-of-charge.

“I am allowed to volunteer,” Mr Nicholson said. “I am not allowed to be paid.”Like his American counterparts, Nicholson is getting used to thrifty lifestyle. He spent two weeks sleeping on a couch leading up to the New Hampshire contest, and helped open an Obama campaign office in Savannah, Ga., in the back of a dentist’s office.

“One of the reasons I am out here is that I like American politics more than British politics,” Nicholson told The Times. “In this country people believe in the political system. They believe that, particularly with a candidate like Obama, greats things can be done. I am tired of the cynicism of British politics.”

Nicholson told the paper he has campaigned with one other British volunteer as well as a Norwegian.

And among other volunteers for Obama in South Carolina was Constancia Romilly, whose family roots trace to Winston Churchill. Romilly lives in New York, and her son — also an Obama activist — is a Georgetown U. law professor.

“My aunt Debo, the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire, sent me a note saying she hopes we are successful with Obama,” Ms Romilly said. “It may be tongue-in-cheek.

Obama is my senator. He is intelligent, articulate and I have a great respect and admiration for him as a father and a man. I am proud of his accomplishments and I have waited a life time to see a person of color as a frontrunner for the office of US President. Unfortunately, his OBL agenda and his treasonous support for illegal alien amnesty will force me to vote against him and FOR the survival of my country.

Let me further illustrate my point on the difference of the mindset between republicans and democrats.
I allowed myself to create a quick visualization of the case.

The chart illustrates the Republican vs. Democrat state of mind.

The U-turn arrow illustrates the path of your thought process in your brain (the inner circle represents your brain where your thoughts are born and the outside circle illustrates your mind) as following:

Republicans:
*** marriage- RUN back inside! ***s are animals

taxes- RUN back inside! It's my money and I'll do with it what I want, even if that means not having health insurance and rotten teeth.

foreigner- RUN back inside! Foreigners are animals, and a threat to our way of life- Bless America and no one else!

black person- RUN back inside! Black people are monkeys.

woman president- RUN back inside! Our patriarchal country is not ready for a woman president.

illegal immigrant- RUN back inside! Illegal aliens are monkeys, or like other dangerous animals- they rape, steal and kill.

terrorist- RUN back inside! and HIDE! CLOSE all the doors SHUT! Don't even dare to look at the problem.
abortion-RUN back inside! Jail all women, keep them in the house, beat them if you can.

global economy- RUN back inside! My backyard is where the end of my nose is. I don't know what global means anyway.

See, your thoughts meet mental roadblocks and it's hard for you to think clearly because you have a swarming sky full of problems you are afraid of tackling by yourself, which overwhelm you and your weak mind. You'd rather give your life control to someone more powerful and stronger who will tell you how to live and what to think. Otherwise you're scared of the world, and everything around you. So you put your life in control of poor leaders that make bad decisions, but at least you have an illusion as if their power imparts on to you, as you feel a part of something bigger than you can wrap your mind around (no pun intended).

Reasons- lack of education, poverty, etc.
You may deny all this, even in front of yourself, but the truth is it is simply true, and you know it. It is in your blood.

Now let's look at the Democrat state of mind:

I'll OPEN MY MIND, OUTSIDE of my safety zone, and explore the problem, and try to find solutions.
I'll embrace the issue, analyze it logically, use my intellect and see where it takes me.

*** marriage- if every person has the right to the pursuit of happiness, that means single *** couple does as well, in the eyes of the Law of the Land.

abortion- if every person is free, they are allowed to make their own choices.

terrorist- let's look for solutions how to solve this new modern world problem and not hide from it or blindly attack innocent nations (fear is powerful for republicans).

undocumented immigrants- if every person under the Constitution is subjected to it, so are undocumented aliens, and should be treated as such.

taxes- the wealth of the land belongs to everybody, and it should help everybody not only the ellite few.

foreigner- I am interested in getting to know you, and learning more about your culture, visiting your country, and bringing something my culture could be enriched with.

black person- same as undocumented immigrant- as above

woman president- that's what we call PROGRESS. Have you Republican, yes you, heard about the phrase: all men are created equal? I know you've heard it, but you thought (in your narrow-minded mindset) that it meant All Males are created equal.

global economy- great! Other nations are going to improve as they grow, as we help them grow, and when everybody grows, we grow too.

That's about it. I might add stuff as I go.

Hope you enjoyed it.

B]Latino Voters Key to Super Tuesday [/B]

By Chris Simkins
Washington, DC
31 January 2008

Voters in 22 states, including California and New York, will go to the polls next Tuesday in the biggest primary election contest of the 2008 U.S. presidential race. The outcome of many of these elections and caucuses will be shaped by Latinos. VOA's Chris Simkins reports on the impact the Hispanic vote will have in determining which candidate from the Democratic or Republican Party wins their party's presidential nomination.

Hispanics are the largest minority group in the United States and make up the fastest-growing voting segment among immigrant populations in the country. That's why political observers say they will play a key role in this year's presidential contest.

Cecilia Munoz, a Public Policy Director with the National Council of La Raza in Washington D.C., says Latinos are energized by the issues and mobilizing to get out the vote. "I think part of the energy is just because this is a growing constituency and as our numbers increase our proportion of the electorate is going to increase. But there is really much more going on. We (Latinos) care deeply about the major issues of the day, questions like education, or access to health care or the war."

Cecelia Munoz
Both the Republican and Democratic Party candidates know the importance of the Hispanic vote. That's why they've been campaigning hard in Latino communities, especially in western states. Senator Hillary Clinton is running Spanish language campaign ads in California.

William Ramos is the Washington Director of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO).

He says holding earlier presidential primary elections this year means the Latino electorate will have a big say in deciding the nominee from the two major political parties. "By moving forward on the primary calendar it offered Latinos -- who are large populations in the Southwest where many of the states are, and in the northeast in New York, New Jersey and the like -- an opportunity to really have a voice in these presidential primary elections and beyond in the general election."

William Ramos
Political analysts say, traditionally, Hispanics are swing voters, meaning they do not always throw their sole support behind one political party over the other. Since the 1980s increasing numbers of Hispanics have been voting for Republican presidential candidates. President Bush markedly increased his share of the Latino vote when he was re-elected in 2004.

But some political analysts say the immigration debate could dramatically shift Latino support away from the Republican party. They believe many Latinos are angry over the tough position on illegal immigration taken by many Republicans, including threats to deport the millions of undocumented workers in the country now.

"The tough hard-line anti-immigration position that the Republican candidates, many of them, have taken on immigration is going to be a problem with Hispanic voters," says Norman Ornstein, who is a political expert at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington. "That is why Senator John McCain, who is not saddled with that tough anti-immigration line, is someone who scares Democrats a little bit more. As George Bush showed, if a Republican can get 35 to 40 percent of the Hispanic vote he can win an election, an election the Democrats think is theirs and in the bag."

Some political observers estimate more than nine million Latinos could cast ballots in the general election, a 23 percent increase from 2004. They believe those numbers could increase if one million Hispanics who have applied for citizenship become naturalized and vote in the November election.

The post was only for information and I will post an update after the Super Tuesday results are in.

I think Edwards might not say anything, but if the delegates from Edwards lean toward Obama, it might be closer than Hillary wants. I still think it is going to be Hillary unless her husband does something stupid. McCain has an inside track, but many staunch conservative voters may not vote for him at all. If the Repblican vote is split, like it was in 1992, then the Democrats will win either with Hilary or Obama. But if Ralfh Nader also puts his hat in, then the Democrats might be split as well and might give a chance to the Republican party, even with defections to a third party candidate.

In your dreams. You think Democrats are so stupid and don't know what's at stake, to side with someone like Nader??
You must be kidding, or a Republican.

The reason Obama won in SC was because 80% of the population there is black while only 20% is white. So this win was elusive.

Hudson, I know enough, don't question my knowledge about politics, and history in general (again). I told you what I think about such attitude before.

I was not questioning your intelligence, only your perceptions. The facts do not support your thesis about the Republican party in general, nor its rank and file members. Nor would the facts support the thesis that Democrats are narow minded as well.

Ok, ProudUSC, I'll take that as long as you give me a prediction on the winner of the presidency.

Ipers must have spent a lot of time making that drawing. Too bad she didn't spend as much time with the narrative. Being a democrat is not the same as being a socialist. Better speak to someone in the party who can explain what it is. The wealth of the land belongs to everyone? So, you want a gov. controlled economy with no private ownership of property or business. I won't even comment on your black person statement (hypocrisy). The terrorist threat has been stopped by a Republican president. If you remember Osama was doing his thing back when a democrat was in office and he did nothing about it. As far as taxes go check who pays the majority of this country's tax bill. Here is a hint. It isn't the bottom 50% of wage earners.

Vote Republican and this country will still be worth sneaking into.

Hi Davdah,

It is my prediction that McCain will win. I believe the Democrats set themselves up for failure with their choice of candidates. I'm not particularly interested in another four years of Republican rule based on the current status of our country. I am ready for a change, but not sure the country is ready for a woman or black president. So, it will be the Democrats to blame if another Repulican wins the election.
