Mexican man arrested after routine traffic stop. Story by Stacy Rich Email | Bio
WHEELING -- Ohio County sheriff's deputies pulled over a car speeding on Interstate 70 West near the Washington Avenue exit Tuesday morning.
When deputies attempted to speak with the driver, he handed them a Mexican driver's license and couldn't speak English, police said.
A translator with the department was called in and the driver then admitted he was in the country illegally and was living in Ohio.
He told deputies that he was traveling from Pennsylvania, where he had just visited a friend.
He also told deputies that he had been in the United States for two weeks and had traveled form Arizona to Ohio by bus.
Another example of our border problem. We are going to be so overwhelmed with Mexicans et al if we don't figure out a resolution to this problem. I can't walk into a Walmart, KMart, McDonalds, or any fast food place anymore without dealing with problems - what's wrong with learning English before you come here? Living in a single family neighborhood with about 6 families (Mexicans) altogether in one house (with 15 cars) next door to me isn't helping change my mind one bit either! Sick of it!
and here is another example of more irresponsible illegals....(don't forget your hankerchief)....
A 29-year-old Mexican farm worker who has been deported at least six times for illegally entering the United States will spend 15 months in federal prison.
Vincente Santiago-Castro then will be sent back to Mexico once again.
Santiago-Castro, whose case was described as sadly typical by federal court authorities, was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny.
U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested Santiago-Castro last Sept. 13 in Eden. The illegal alien had been working at a nursery in the Southern Tier.
Speaking through an interpreter, he apologized to the judge for his actions.
“He came from a very poor town in Mexico, where they don’t even have electricity, and he came here to work,†said Marianne Mariano, a federal public defender who represented Santiago-Castro. “He’s been sending $200 a month to his parents and two children back home.
“It’s a very sad case, because his family depends on that money.â€
According to court papers filed by the Homeland Security Department, Santiago-Castro was deported from the United States on at least six previous occasions between 1998 and 2001.
Joseph B. Mistrett, who heads the public defender’s office, said he has represented many men in similar circumstances to those of Santiago- Castro.
“Most of them are individuals who come to the United States because they’re in dire circumstances in Mexico or other countries,†Mistrett said. “They generally come here to pick apples or tomatoes and send money back to their families. They don’t live in luxury while they’re here, either.â€
Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregory L. Brown represented the government at Monday’s sentencing. He said Skretny sentenced Santiago-Castro at the low end of advisory sentencing guidelines.
The government has been trying to crack down on an estimated 12 million illegal aliens who live in the United States. An estimated 40,000 migrant farm workers — some of them illegals — work in Central and Western New York each year.
Last summer, U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement agents conducted several large roundups of illegal aliens in the region.
Most of the illegal aliens arrested in such roundups are sent back to their home countries after noncriminal proceedings, authorities said. But because of his previous deportations, Santiago-Castro was prosecuted as a felon for illegal re-entry.
“I think his case is very ironic, because just last week, you had President Bush in Mexico, talking to the Mexican president about a guest worker program,†Mariano said. “That’s just the kind of program that would have benefited this man. Now, he’ll probably never be allowed to take part in a program like that.â€

<sniffle sniffle>,....gosh....whatever should we (the hard working AMerican people) do about this terrible 'injustice'---why, if only our laws weren't so unfair and complex, this dirtbag would never have been deported 6 FN times!!!>...SIX TIMES???? how do you spell "I R R E S P O N S I B L E?????" "LAW BREAKING?" six times?????? I guess that's 2 down, 11,999,998 to go.....
well just this past week, here in Ohio 2 germans, from 2 seperate cities, were cought and deported. For being and working here Illegally, after finishing their student year.
One german and 2 British citizen girls got cought in Beverly Hills,CA for being and working here illegally,as babysitters.
I had to pass this on,because almost everyone things of illegals as mexicans only, that might be true to most part, but there tonz of illegals here from europe and other countries as well. I myself am from europe originally, but I do not make a difference. If you are illegally here, your butt needs to be sent home, don't care what section of the world you are from. Its an insult to those who waited in line and paid their dues basically to get here fair and square and legally!
I agree however, you can not sent 12 million illegals home just like that, but you can do it "one by one" and not all illegals who work here do stuff americans wouldn't do...there are lots of illegals here, who are here for fun and adventure of it. The german and british girls were here for adventure and all of them came from a decent middle class families back home with educational background. We should not forget, that not all illegals in this country are here to make money to feed their kids and families back home etc or trying to get away from a country, thats out of shape and has violence,crimes....and work here and do "dirty jobs"....there is a difference.
He didn't broadside anyone. However, if anyone would broadside my daughter, I would have him/her procecuted, even he would be the president of the US - right Someone12?
Local law enforcement getting involved in the immigration problems has been an issue for quite some time. Let's just hope, that nothing ever happens to an American, where an illigal might be witnessing a crime, and wouldn't come forward to assist the local law enforcement, because they could get INS involved.
Not to call you stupid, but you are walking a very fine line here!!!

QUESTIONS The questions are complex and not offering easy solutions. We try to sort it out. The debates go on for hours, and the questions remain elusive. Sometimes, though, just raising the questions is enough.
Is the one i want to write. like you said "one cannot not do nothing" quoting from your kollerkrot, not even the US president. He has priorities, like Iraq, not illegal ppl. lol being realistic or fictitious is kinda fun.

JUSTICE IS INDISCRIMINATELY DUE TO ALL
Well...in 1999 in Homestead-Miami agricultural area I left the KOA campground wondering why my co-worker was parked alongside the road. I arrived five minutes after the ambulance had taken the dead body of a well-known and well-liked migrant worker from Mexico (legal or illegal, doesn't matter here). He'd ridden a bicycle to his friends home every evening to visit. All the locals and tourists alike were familiar with him riding each evening and within the required space allotted for bicyclists. My co-worker wasn't watching what he was doing and hit him, killing him. If that wasn't enough for me to know about, I had to visit my co-worker's wife and tell her that her husband was being investigated regarding the incident.
I asked her to sit down before I told her what had occurred. The first words that came out of her mouth, "Oh no, no, we're going to get sued and lose everything we have!" Not a word of sorrow. I was alarmingly shocked but gracefully made an immediate exit.
As of today, wonder what the thoughts of the migrant's family were during all their moments of weeping?

Two Santa Fe Police Officers Arrested
Associated Press SANTA FE — FBI agents on Thursday arrested two Santa Fe police officers — including the former supervisor of the department's narcotics division. Federal charges against Sgt. Steve Altonji, the former head of the narcotics and property unit, and Danny Ramirez, who works in the narcotics division, were sealed and were not immediately available, the U.S. attorney's office said. The men were slated for an appearance in U.S. District Court in Albuquerque on Thursday afternoon. Altonji, an 11-year veteran of the Santa Fe police, was placed on leave in November after the U.S. attorney's office announced a federal grand jury was investigating him. According to a target letter to Altonji, the investigation involved allegations of money laundering, theft of federal funds and deprivation of civil rights. Ramirez was on duty when FBI agents came to arrest him, and he arranged with Police Chief Eric Johnson to turn himself in just after noon. Federal agents executed search warrants at both men's homes. Several Santa Fe police officers and a defendant in a drug-trafficking case were called to testify in December before a grand jury at the federal courthouse in Albuquerque. The Rotary Club awarded Altonji its 2005 Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Law Enforcement. Earlier that year, then-Police Chief Beverly Lennen said the main reason for a drop in the capital city's burglary rate was Altonji's appointment as head of the property crimes unit.

Someone12 Power Member Posted April 08, 2007 05:37 PM Hide Post any scumbag illegal that kills an AMerican, whether by choice or by accident, should (a) spend 20 years minimum at hard labor [not picking fruit!] followed by an immediate deportation and NEVER EVER allowed to set foot in the US of A. If such a dirtbag should ever sneak back into America, he (or she)should be shipped to Antarctica.
Hmmm, not only illegals, eh?
Drunken driver gets 20 years for death
Dallas: She pleaded guilty to killing man walking by White Rock
08:38 PM CDT on Thursday, May 10, 2007 By JENNIFER EMILY / The Dallas Morning News jemily@dallasnews.com
A 61-year-old drunken driver who killed a man the same day she got out of jail for DWI was sentenced Thursday to 20 years in prison.
Astrid Karlsson had pleaded guilty and asked a Dallas County jury to decide her punishment. They gave her the maximum sentence for intoxication manslaughter.
Astrid Karlsson She killed 64-year-old Richard Sartain in May 2006 as he walked around White Rock Lake. It was a daily ritual for the retired financial planner and day trader.
When Ms. Karlsson struck Mr. Sartain, her blood alcohol level was .22 percent – nearly three times the legal limit of .08 to be able to drive, according to testimony.
After the trial, Mr. Sartain's family spoke to Ms. Karlsson from the witness stand.
His son, Michael Sartain, 29, told Ms. Karlsson that he wished the jury could have given her more time.
"I don't have malice in my heart for you. I do hope that you find a cure [for alcoholism] and that you find your way and that you get to know God," he said. "I personally don't believe 20 years is enough."
Throughout the trial, Ms. Karlsson watched Mr. Sartain's family during testimony. Her facial expression did not change, but she seemed interested in what they were doing during the trial.
Ms. Karlsson's only previous conviction is the misdemeanor DWI. A judge sentenced her to 60 days in the Dallas County Jail. She was released after 20 days because the jail gives inmates three days of credit for each day served.
She was originally going to serve probation for that crime. But prosecutor Madeleine Harrison changed her recommendation to the court when Ms. Karlsson showed up drunk to court on the day she was supposed to plead guilty.
Guys please...this information provided by this dude " Son Of Michael " is misleading and not completely correct, which is understandble if an unintelligent person makes a claim without having knowledge about the federal law that involves Police Officers and Law Enforcment employees.
Here is the fact. That driver was not arrested ,not taking into costudy because he was Illegally here!
You guys need to understand that law of the United States of America and what Law Enforcment and Police Officers are allowed to do and are NOT allowed to do or to enforce as a part of their duty and authority.
Police and Law Enforcment are not allowed nor authorized to question ANYONES status in the United States, not authorized to question if someone is a citizen,a permament resident etc, or if they are here legally or illegally here.
They are not allowed to question that nor allowed to enforce it.You can tell and walk up to any law enforcment and say "I am here Illegally" and Police Officers are not allowed to do anything about it,because, still as of 2007, Police officers are not allowed to enforce that area.
Now for our friend Son Of Michael and anyone else that is not fimiliar with the law, here is the reason why that Illegal alien was taking to costudy for.
He drove over the speed limit,he broke by now following the speed limit, therefore he was stopped. When checking his drivers license,he mexican license, which is number 1 not recignized in the state of Ohio nor Michigan and many other states, therefore he was not allowed to operate to drive a vehicle with his mexican drivers license. So be broke the law by now following the speed limit, the broke the 2nd law,by driving with a foreign license that is not recignized by the state and therefore not allowed.
Thats the reason he was taking into costudy, the fact he was illegal, was just a pure luck. Anyone else would have been taking into costudy,in the same cirumstances, regardless if you were legal or illegal.
Just thought I would let all of ya know, why the he was actually being arrested and taking into costudy,it was not for being Illegal. But once as an illegal you break the law, your a.ss is grass basically. Now they can hand him over to Homeland Security/U.S. Costums/ FBI..... those who are actually authorized to question someones status and even arrest. But not Police Officers.
Guys please...this information provided by this dude " Son Of Michael " is miss leading and not completely correct, which is understandble if an unintelligent person makes a claim without having knowledge about the federal law that involves Police Officers and Law Enforcments employees.

HBKHBK, Thank you for responding. If you notice there are quotes by Someone12, not SonofMichael, before the articles.
I appreciate your endeavor to clear up any misunderstanding. There was nothing about his articles I didn't understand or don't know about. I already have a vast knowledge of how our law enforcement operates towards llegals. I had no misconception he was arrested because he was illegal.
The articles were posted by me, with one of his previous quotes attached, to throw back to him that there are U.S. citizens, specifically our law enforcement that commit crimes as well. Just a little spitballl being thrown back. Sorry you didn't catch that!
