If a person is an immigrant to begin with. In many cases they are not immigrants by definition. Even though they jumped the border and live here doesn't make them an immigrant. An immigrant is someone who wants to be a full on member of the country they are going to. The flag burners and all in that class don't. The refusing to speak English class don't. The parasites who take advantage of every loop hole in the social services system don't. The SSN card stealing tax cheats don't. If mexico can ship them here we can afford to ship them all right back. We aren't talking about tooth pics at all. We are talking about the rape of a country.

Why are you under the impression that I am in favor of border jumping? I have never posted my views on this subject. I'm not in favor of border jumping and I am not in favor of flag burning. However, learning English as an adult is difficult, especially over the age of 25. As a former ESL teacher to adults, I can attest that it is next to impossible to learn English after a certain age, language acquisitionly speaking. Language based research shows that children who were not exposed to certain phonics sounds before the age of 6, will never be able to pronounce that sound, because their brain did not develop the processing ability to formulate the sound. Other research shows that the older the person is, the more difficult it is to learn a second language, and some will learn at a much slower pace, taking many many years to acquire even basic skills. I am in favor of trying to learn.
I have worked for years in the human service industry and trust me, the vast majority of people who apply for social service benefits (welfare, food stamps, Medicaid) are USC's born and raised right here. Most immigrants that I come across, and I come across many in my line of work, are hard working individuals who do not want government support. They have a desire to succeed in America, even if that means living a life of self sacrifice and hard work. Not sure what frame of reference you are drawing your current blanket statements and former statistic from.
What state are you in? Ca, Tx, Nm, or AZ? If not then you many not be privy to the invasion.
The language issue may explain why the protestors were screaming in Spanish for their non existant rights. If that is the case then why bother coming here and burdening me and everyone else with their problems.
You have a vested interest in having them come over since your job was derived from it. I have a vested interest in getting rid of them. Last week I finally managed to get rid of another bad tenant. This one turned out to be an illegal dirt bag from God knows where. How did I find out? When he left he stole the Refrigerator and stove from his unit and the adjacent unit. Why did he do that after he hadn't paid the rent for 2 months? So he can sell it to get money to move into the next place. Called the police and filed the report. Turns out pretty much all the documentation he gave, license, SSN card, etc was all bogus. Oh, but he was just looking to improve his life. Well, new rule folks. If you have an accent, no se renta.

I have no vested interest in having anyone "come over", my job is not derived from this. I do not have any immigrant clientele, just messed up USCs. It is unfortunate that you were stiffed like that, my regrets to you. I, on the other hand, have never had a "memorable" negative encounter with an immigrant, only positive, hence, formulating my opinions.
What kind of USC doesn't speak English? What do they speak?
No negative encounters from an immigrant? Don't worry, you won't be left out for long. Your kindness will be mistaken for weakness and will be exploited. Its just a matter of time before your number comes up.

I don't think she meant that. She said ESL for USC. English as a second language. If for someone like you mentioned there would be no first language to begin with. Those would be learning disabled. Different classification all together.
Perhaps that wouldn't be a bad idea for her. If she hasn't had the privilege of trying to teach English to a group of kids from Mexico in the Los Angeles school system give it a try. Don't forget your body armor though.

I hope you're not blind enough to not realize that what you're doing, according to the Department Of Justice, is ILLEGAL...
"... Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 (Fair Housing Act), as amended, prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of dwellings, and in other housing-related transactions, based on race, color, national origin, religion, s e x , familial status (including children under the age of 18 living with parents of legal custodians, pregnant women, and people securing custody of children under the age of 18), and handicap (disability)..."

Where did I say that?? I said I USED to teach ESL to adults. I also said that I worked in the "human service" field for many years. When I taught ESL, of course it was to foreign born adults. My experience in HS covers a much broader range, and has been predominately with USC clientele. Trust me it's the USC's that were trying to scam, not the immigrants.

Knew that was coming. I was expecting it to come from Hudson but oh well. In addition it is also illegal to rent to illegals. That is who I am trying to exclude. Anyone have a problen with that?
There will be some additional burden placed on the applicant to show they are not illegal if I suspect they are.
If title V111 can have my appliances returned then feel free to throw it in my face. That or if you want you can give me the $2000.00 to replace what the illegal dirtball took. Didn't think so. So, again, NO SE RENTA

How do you know he (or she) was an illegal? If you knew of their illegal status, but you were renting to them, then YOU WERE DOING SOMETHING ILLEGAL.
Whknapp and NHF, my friends, sorry to tell you this, you've been visiting this forum very irregularly lately. You're missing the salient point or punchline.
It's not about immigration, or renting, or stealing. It's about letting you know that "he owns an apartment for rent!"
Ok, the pattern is clear. He figured in an accident (allegedly) lately with an illegal. Was it the accident or the illegal that was the focus of the story? Nah, his Mercedes Benz. Yeah, to publicize to this anonymous forum that he's got a Benz!
Many more - he's an employer, runs this and that kind of business, signing front and back of checks, owns a plane, owns buildings, married/remarried a dozen, traveled around the globe, posting here for entertainment like a cyber playground, etc., etc.
But this is an anonymous forum, by golly wow! If one poster owns either a beat-up Kia or a million-dollar Ferrari, who wants to know, or who cares?
Whether one poster "owns" or "guards" a building, who wants to know, or who cares?
Bill Gates makes $5,000.00 every second. What do I care? That's his money, not mine!
One just needs a PC and an internet to post here. So who wants to know, who cares? Everybody is welcome here, anyway. No discrimination - whether one is a Garbage Collector or an Astronaut - one voice, one opinion!

I had been thinking along those same lines, Rough Neighbor. We are all nameless, faceless cyper people who supposedly came together to discuss immigration issues. Who gives a rats behind what kind of car someone drives? People who need to sign on these forums and discuss their wealth are emotionally weak people who lack substance of any other kind. After reading a post today, I was kind of wondering if he's in the business of being a slum lord?
Dear Rough Neighbor, thank you very much for updating me on this. You're right, there are some pathetic losers desperately begging for some attention. Even if they have to act as moronic bigots...
RN, it is to prove a point. That, unlike you, I see what they do since I am affected by it. BFD, so I do own some stuff. Point is, it doesn't give a slime ball the right to wreck it. I know you think its wrong for anyone to have more than someone else. You beleive in wealth redistribution. Giving all away to the illegal, all but your own I'm sure.
BTW, I did own a kia not that many years ago. I do agree they are about the worst cars ever made (lol).
As for the slimeball, the docs he produced to the manager looked ok. Now that this happened I am requiring anyone who is obviously an ESL type to be further scrutinized. But this was to show they are not the angels some of you believe.
Seems to me someone does care what B. Gates makes. I didn't know he was doing that well. Thanks for keeping tabs RN. Something to shoot for.

quote by Proud USC: Davdah - that's really grabbing at straws. Most people who are crossing the deserts are doing so out of desperation - so please don't blame people who are compassionate about human rights for their unfortunate deaths. That's ridiculous.[quote]
Well not according to Vincente Fox who on November 13, 2007 said this
Fox opposes the wall to separate the United States from Mexico.
"I love this nation. I don't understand this nation — building walls in front of your neighbor, your friend, your partner," he said.
When asked what Mexico can do to create jobs so its people won't feel the need to immigrate, he responded that Mexicans do have jobs. It's not that they don't have jobs in Mexico, but that they make more money here," he said
Mexicans pick produce, build homes and work in restaurants in the United States, he said.
"You get a good quality of life from these people working."
It has been stated over and over again by people that Mexican illegals cross the border out of desperation. More accurately the word is opportunity according to their former president
The good quality life comment is (rotf) funny. Drive through El Paso going east. Look to the right. What do you see? Miles and miles of shanties on the mexican side. The same people who built those 'quality' homes are building them on this side. Oh they may look a little prettier on the outside. But, if you could get a look at the quality of the framing and foundation work you may think twice before agreeing with Fox.
