I can't speak for everyone here, but I would venture to guess the majority of us who appear to be illegal lovers are not. We are humanitarians who believe the illegals are not to blame. Our government is to blame. They did not secure our borders. They did not impose sanctions against employers who hire illegal immigrants. What exactly has our government done to control this problem? My take is be very, very angry with our Senators, Congressmen and President. They're too worried about votes and other things to deal with this problem head on! Take your anger out on them, not the Mexicans (the law-abiding, productive, tax-paying ones) who have come here to have a chance for a better life.

She works in Chicago. Drives there in the morning from a suburb and at lunch sees what she sees.
ProudUSC, One point I have to disagree on with who is to blame. It isn't our Gov. The employers are the ones to blame. The Gov didn't tell them it was ok to hire illegals direct or indirect. The only thing our Gov is guilty of is waiting too long to drop the hammer. Large organizations are more reactive than proactive in its approaches to anything. The laws were there but the employers chose not to follow them.
For anyone to believe the stories of unwanted jobs as a justification is a fallacy. In my own experience I saw it. Although they made a mess of the job what made it worse is the guys doing it weren't paid no where near what a USC would have been paid. I know it was not an isolated incident. At any day laborer site all of them will tell you they don't get paid anything close to their USC counterparts. They know it but are willing to accept what they do since its a lot more than in Mexico. It is still wrong on several fronts. For one it denies jobs to people who should have them. It negatively affects the local economies. You have a USC who may have to ask for welfare since they can't find work. The taxes that should be paid on those earnings are not since it is either under the table or the exemptions are maxed out. So now we have no taxes collected to offset the welfare use. We get a double screwing with the only benefactor being the employer and Mexico. If those 12mil were offered amnesty what would happen? The employers would fire a lot of them since they would demand higher wages. We would end up with another near 12 mil illegals to replace these. Added to that would be a swelling of the welfare roles. This was tried back in the 80's. Look how it has gotten worse.
If it were stopped and all the illegals had to go home what do you think would happen? Not here but in their home country. Perhaps a much needed revolution.
Vote Republican and this country will still be worth sneaking into.

So, who is in charge of the hiring practices of the employers, Davdah? Tell me there are no rules governing who we can and cannot hire. There is a form called the I-9. Who issued this form? You can accept umpteen forms of ids from people who complete this form. You can use the E-Verify database, get a no-match - so what? Has the government enforced the no-match process? No - they tried to bring new life to it back in August last year, but now it's stuck in our judicial system pending a lawsuit brought on by the ACLU. So, tell me again why our government is not to blame?

It isn't our Gov. Our Gov is very clear in its desires. On the I-9 it says you can not discriminate against anyone other than someone who is not authorized to work here. The lists of documents asked for has the intent of proving the person is here legally and authorized to work. If an employer gets burned by someone who can make good fake documents that is one thing. But many employers make it a practice to hire and recruit only illegals. Remember Swift meats? Do you think it was just a coincidence they had so many? Not likely. Same holds true for many meat packers and home builders.
There are plenty of rules but it goes back to the employer following them. They either follow the rules or they don't. Many don't which is why the illegals come here. They know where to go. They know who will hire them and turn a blind eye to a poorly made fake SSN card. Just because the GOV doesn't have an ICE agent at every employer doesn't justify breaking the rules.
The ACLU (Anti Citizen Loony Union) has a long standing reputation that speaks for itself. Its no surprise they are on the side of protecting the illegal. The will fight tooth and nail to protect the person who killed your family from just punishment. When MS-13 gets prosecuted it will be these guys running to their aid.
