Unemployment depends on the rules of whatever state you worked in, and whether your employer paid into the fund. Your best bet is to check with your state unemployment commission as to its eligibility requirements.
Generally, you have to be available to work (have a visa or legal status allowing you to work for anyone, which pretty well knocks out H1-Bs) and looking for work. Your umemployment benefits are subject to federal income tax--something a lot of people don't realize, but which could cost you penalties.
