I think YOU are kidding.
What about Antifascist and other identities. I bet ya forgot those to take into account?

As you know, 'Antifascist' was suspended (thanks to collective efforts of opponents of Free Speech on this board) before I registered 'ImpenetrablE' , just like 'ImmortalE' was suspended before I registered 'Antifascist' and so on.

On topic- I think Dems will win both Houses hand over fist and beat Cons once and for all.

WHY do you think so?

Do you realize how 'National Polls' are NOT reflective of individual Districts where the outcome of House elections will ultimately be decided ?

Did you bother to look at those Districts where so called "contested" races will take place?

Did you look ,even briefly, at the social issues, demographics, voting patterns and histroy of those Districts?

What on earth makes you think that Democrats will win this election in thOse Districts?

Because of my woman's intuition.
That's one.
Because people in general are fed up with the war and the state of the economy.
That's two.

Enough.

Actually I might bet on it on tradesports.com (I am going to wait when the odds for Reps. reach the lowest point - that's when I might bet that they will retain the House - and surely they will!).

Intuition that willfully ignores facts on the ground is useless.

No, that's not enough.
People whEre?
In whAt districts people are fed up with whAt?

If people, let's say, in California's extra-liberal Democratic districts are fed-up with state of economy or war or whatever else and ALREADY have Democratic Representative in House, whAt difference their votes will make?
Absolutely NONE, they will just re-elect the same guy or elect another person from the same party.

But how about those so called 'contested' races where 28 or so Republican seats will be 'for grabs'?
Do you even knOw whAt and whEre thOse districts are?
Do you knOw whAt the current social issues, dynamics, demographics, voting patterns/electoral history/trends there are?

Note: I do not dispute the possibility of Democrats picking-up few seats here and there (while also loosing some), but I highly - HIGHLY - doubt their ability to win control of Senate, and I am absolutely most certain that Republicans will retain the control of the House.

Courtesy of Reuters/Zogby:
Democrats have shot at Senate control

It'll be a close one for sure, but I tend to agree with the above link. Donkey have 6 slim leads of the 7 most vulnerable elephant's seat, the same amount needed to gain majority, while having safe leads on their own vulnerable seats.
The house is a tad different though.

I am serious, I think it's a safe bet to go to www.tradesports.com and bid on House (the offer on HOUSE.GOP.2006 was 26 in the morning and is already 23.4-23.5.
If you wait longer you may get it for even lower price).

I myslef will probably bid on it and will update you of the winning results soon !

According to my perennial demagogery, I'm asking where is Antifascist?
Is he gone to Moscow to protest: Moscow for Moscow, Russia for Russia?
Do Russians even know anymore what the November 4th Holiday is about? Well, no suprise there, most people don't remember what happened 400 years ago..

Big Grin

As you too well know nickname 'Antifascist' was banned (per collective effort of certain members of ilw.com), and succeded by 'ImpenetrablE'. Cool

BTW, the wave of fascism & racism in Russia is really bad , since unlike in US they have very corrupted Government and Law Enforcement (particularly on local levels) : number of people of non-slavic appearance get violently murdered without traces of killers ever being found and on top of that many migrants in Russia (unlike many of those in US) are hardened criminals who in fact controll vast segments of Russian criminal underworld, thus greatly contributing to intensifying of the ethnic tension between the locals and immigrants.

The whole picture is hugely different in Russia and can't really be compared to one in US.

But tell me, dear Ms. Perennial Demagogue of the Universe, what relevance does "Moscow for Moscow, Russia for Russia" have to our own reality here, especially in the context of this immigration forum?
Aside from irrelevance, as far as I know, Russia never defended (nor was recognized internationally for defending) ideals of individual freedoms, dignity and rationalism.

P.S. And whAt Russian holiday was celebrated on November, 4th?
Perhaps you refer to October Red Revolution that was celebrated on November 8th (due to post-revolutionary change from Orthodox to secular calendar) throughout the Communist rule in former Soviet Union?

And what particular event from 400 years ago isn't remembered (I assume that, quite naturally, many are forgotten)?
Could it be crowning of Vasili IV of Russia (the last Rurikid tsar of Russia, 1606-1610)?

Comment on Topic:

Republican Party will most (absolutely)certainly retain the control of the House and has extremely slim chances of loosing Senate.

No, Mr Know it All...
The new Russian Holiday to unite all Russians all over again. So funny. It looks like a blatant political move against Poland.
400 years ago Russians liberated Moscow from Polish occupation:

Russian News - 4th November, 2005
Unity Holiday Creating Discord

A new holiday that will be celebrated for the first time on Friday is supposed to help unite the country under a new patriotic banner.

But People's Unity Day, which is supposed to commemorate the day in 1612 that Moscow was liberated from Polish occupation, is stirring up a heated debate in some circles, with critics calling it little more than a celebration of Russian Orthodoxy triumphing over Roman Catholicism. Moreover, the government has gotten the Nov. 4 date wrong, historians say.

Ultranationalists, meanwhile, intend on Friday to stage a march denouncing the "occupation" of Russia by illegal migrant workers, and Mayor Yury Luzhkov is organizing a military march on Red Square for Monday, the day of the Soviet-era holiday that the new holiday has replaced.

There is little debate about what happened in 1612: Prince Dmitry Pozharsky and Kuzma Minin, a butcher from Nizhny Novgorod, led the Nizhny Novgorod volunteer corps in forcing the Polish invaders out of Moscow. The troops took Kitai-Gorod on Oct. 22 and drove False Dmitry out of the Kremlin on Oct. 26.

The victories helped end the so-called Smutnoye Vremya, or Time of Troubles, a period of internal strife and foreign intervention that began in 1598 with the death of Tsar Fyodor I and lasted until 1613, when the first Romanov assumed the throne and signed an order restoring the Russian state. Mikhail Romanov presented Pozharsky with the title Savior of the Motherland.

But thanks for explaining the dynamics in Russia. Why am I not suprised? Russia, the land of Igor the Evil.. Wink

Why do you think AF created the strawman argument thread?

Are you drinking to me?

Believe it or not, all things are interconnected. No issue stands on its own.
The short article does touch up on illegal migrant workers "occupying" Russia.
Besides, Russia or the US, isn't it the same human kind, the very same planet, the same problems?
The borders between countries, the different languages we speak, the different skin colors we have, the different financial/social status we have- are all artificial mental blocks dividing human beings.
All of us are animals called human beings. All of us are born and all of us die.

That is what I said on Nov 2nd.
Democrats will win both Houses HAND OVER FIST and BEAT Cons once and for all.

Didn't the Cons receive some big "thumpin"?? (George Bush's words as stated in the interview).

Never underestimate woman's wisdom gentelmen. I simply KNEW it.

Now how does that compare to your dear president?

This is what he said in an interview with a CNN reporter (link below):

And so, the decision was made -- actually, I thought we were going to do fine yesterday. Shows what I know. But I thought we were going to be fine in the election.

yes

Just shows I know more than the President of the United States.

Where the hell are you IMPENETRABLE ????

Guys, He is shocked. Results are declared long ago and the guy was more confident than the "MOST RESPECTED PRESIDENT" himself for his own party.
This gives everyone a lesson,

Be positive, don't be over confident and feel ashamed for yourself later, so that you have to hide behind your girlfriend.

Man...I feel sorry for this dude. He showed to people how to be confident and forgot about his own identity.

Anyway, now it's time for us to guess, think what Democrats will do to help immigrants.

Cheers,

Chris
