Can you share your experiences with contacting your congressman re your immigration case (I-485, I-130, 1 year beyond scheduled processing time)?

Only serious posts, please.

Thank you very much for sharing.

My congressmen gave little to no help. In fact I think most of them preferred I didn't bother them with immigration problems. This is in state of Missouri.

Congressman and Senators office can be very helpful in situation like yours, provided that it is outside of normal processing. You have not given enough information for that to be determined here.

Please tell us the state/district where your application was mailed to and your timeline for everything. and if there are any unusual situation in your file.

Do you know the standard timeline in the area that you applied from?

Chuck's situation was a whole different story, and the normal situation that congressional office may deal with.

Our case is in NYC district office. I had an infopass appointment and the officer told me that the processing time for the case passed in Sept. last year. The case was filed in Nov. 2004 and we had 3 interviews - last in March 2007. In Feb 2007 USCIS sent us NOID, in March 2007 we sent our rebuttal package. Our attorney was recently told that our case is awaiting adjudication. I had my FBI reports review completed already.

I'm pretty sure congressmen have better things to do than deal with someone's immigration...that's what lawyers are for.

Actually, our lawyer suggested we contact Hillary Clinton or Chuck Schumer's office. It is a standard inquiry that personnel of the office make on behalf of the congressperson and the petitioner or beneficiary, but it takes about 12 weeks for USCIS to respond.

Congressional Inquiries, as they are called, can have a mixed response. Most congressman have staffers answering to you and some of them just send generic letters back to people making inquiry. There are about 250,000 people waiting for various FBI checks and reschedulings..... Just remember..... when it comes to (FBI check)National Security NO ONE is going to touch it.....

i wish you best wishes in your case.
Just curious.. is this marriage interview that they are trying to deny? if so why if you dont mind sharing.

Jeff

This is part of a congressman's job. Immigration issues is an area that congressman will gladly handle. They have been elected by the people for the people.

You may contact a congressional office any time standard processing times for your service center are past due or there are sensitive issues at hand.

Yes USCIS HAS to answer/look into a congressioanl inquiry within 30 to 90 days max.
