I imagine you check 2nd box, you filed a joint return, but she didn't earn any income, only you. I didn't get that far on mine yet, but situation is the same, that's what I'll check.

Ok people..question time...
Im now trying to get all my documents together, the one thats stressing me out at the moment is the Affidavit of support documents. OK they said that they need a copy of your complete federal income tax filed with the internal revenue service, for each of the most recent 3 tax years. Is this the W2 that we get through the mail from the employer that they require or something else im not aware of. I mean when i file my taxes all i get back in return is the damn check? no other paperwork that i know of? can someone please help?!?!?

Go to your local IRS office and ask for a Tax summary of your returns for past three years. It's a print out I think, send that with copies of W2's of past three years. That's what I was told here. I've got to do the same, we've discussed it here before and there are posts referring to it, I just can't find them now!

If you don't have the information, you can get everything you need from the IRS. In fact you can request it over the phone (if you have a bit of patience) and they can either fax it to you or mail it to you.
I didn't have my tax info for one year, so I called them and asked them to fax it to me. No problem!!
