If I was only crossing over to pick oranges (or other agriculture-related jobs) I wouldn't bother going through the process. I'd just pay a coyote and circumvent the bureacracy. Maybe should come to work instead of marrying (but she didn't know she was going to fall in love (translates - she didn't know that her dream would come true of finding a USC to marry) and it won't be soooooooooo difficult. Much easier than working, eh? One wants to work and the other wants to marry. They both want to come here. People are the same all over the world, same wants, needs and desires.

If you don't know anything about how tough immigration might be for somebody going to Canada how in the hell do you know much about our illegal immigration situation in the U.S. You didn't give it a whole lot of thought before you married. Now everything comes to light and your angry. I'm against the human smugglers and the dangers they present to the people. I respect those that are legally going through the process, they deserve the respect. Just because the process is hard for you, don't become so anti-immigrant. Especially since you don't know much about one immigrating to Canada you surely don't know much about what's been going on in the U.S. All your mad about is you can't get over here as quicly as you initially thought. HBKHBK, Just last night some co-workes brought this subject up. One guy commented in almost the same way I'd posted it. That there are always going to be low-paying jobs. If every teenager in the U.S. completed high school (and I wish they would) there would be no-body to work at in fast food, etc. because they would be working elsewhere. Working at a fast food restaurant takes a little more skill than bending over in a field. I don't want to demean anybody regardless of their occupation. But at fast food's and other jobs paying even less, there are a lot of high school drop-outs that these places need for in their employ. I agree with you about the wages and I'm not totally defending illegals here. It is the primarily the pay as you said. Even if the illegals weren't here for instance, I still believe there will always be those low-paying jobs. The field worker is always going to get paid less. I've read several articles about the amt. of pay they bring home and oftentimes it wasn't that bad. It's still low pay and there are other jobs equally this pay but Americans won't take these ones in particular. I seriously doubt bending over in a field under the scorching sun would be lucrative to Americans even if it paid more. At any rate, there's always going to be the lesser-desired, lower-paying jobs that those without education or skills will have to fill even if they are illegal. (Unless we get the guest worker program in the future.) Owners of fields have stated they've hired American workers but unable to meet the quota of manpower needed.
We also have Americans on our welfare roles that would rather be on it than working in less desirable jobs. We can go on and on.
It's like people in our society are staggered in the pay scale just like the timing of the daily traffic; field workers/construction 6;00am, white-collar 8-9am and varying quitting times in the afternoon. The traffic is staggered out in a.m. and afternoon. So are the pay scales. As if it's a deliberate suppression.
I know some USC that worked on a industrial piping. When it was time to put the insulation on they said, "We're not touching that - leave it for the Hispanics." I know of numerous other jobs Americans have adamantly refused to do decling a decent pay wage at that. First thing that comes from their lips, "Ugh! I don't want to do that." Believe me, I've heard it many times and it wasn't because of the payscale. It might be a dirty job but somebody has to do it and somebody eventually will.
