Wow, $7 an hour babysitting, I want that job. I get $250 for a 60 hour week (and I live out), while their mom hangs out at the country club drinking cocktails, getting her nails & hair done or attending fundraisers, but at least she's contributing to the economy and saving the arts.

I work in the Emergency Room. Not in CA, but nevertheless, in a high immigrant population area. Most of the free-riders have following characterics (and as they all know, any E.D. must accept any patient that walks through the door).:
It doesn't matter how routine (and non emergent) or minor the illness or injury is, it is federal law that E.D.'s have to virtually provide services (sometimes having have to give crochtes or wheelchairs out) to people who never intent to pay their bill the moment they walk into the door.
Most of the people who come in with these intentions (because they don't want to pay a private-practice-doctor her or his charge) are U.S. citizens! They are sometimes the most noisiest and annoying ones, they are often times the ones demanading to get their free motrin, or their "f***'ing" prescription while expecting us to stop and drop the care for the heart attack next door!
I'm not makig generalization. I'm just saying that most foreigners (legal or otherwise) are not noisy, obtrusive and demanding things that are unrealistic. It is unjust of a you to make such generalizations about people who you don't even know, Janis and all your other compartriots!

I agree with much of this thread ... I think US should stop importing additional immigrants for quite some time ... I mean, we have a h e l l of a lot of people here who are in pretty bad shape already ... why should we add others to our country?

I am on this site because I am going through the Legal Immigration process. I am Canadian and married to an American. I can't go back to the States until my Visa comes through. As someone going through it legally, it has been hell. Trying to get answers and information when everyone gives you a different answer. I won't be spending Christmas, New Years or who knows how many more Holidays with my Husband. Immigration might be just as tough for someone coming to Canada, I don't really know. I didn't know a year ago that I was going to fall in love and marry someone in the US, but I did. Getting married made my situation harder, before I was allowed to legally enter the US whenever I wanted. Now because I am married and we filed paperwork I cannot cross the border. Illegal Immigration makes me mad. Before I was going through this, I never gave it a whole lot of though to be honest. I hate that they are there and those of us doing it the legal way are getting kicked in the butt. It feels like that anyway.
you are right....everyone for some reason wants to reward dirtbag illegals, while forgetting about those waiting to immigrate LEGALLY to the US....let's just deport each and every illegal and start over....

From the various immigration boards I have been a member of for the past couple of years, many have visited their spouses in the US with a petition pending. One must be able to show that they will be returning to their country of residence. Its totally up to the CBP Officer as to whether you are granted entry.
You know what pisses me off, that once illegal immigrants become legal they demand higher wages and rights and all that good stuff. I think its not illegal aliens that are the problem I think its legal once that are.and I tell you this because I know someone that used to be illegal and now has their GC and all of the sudden they dont want to work in what they were working, so they are currently unemployed receiving government aide. When they were illegal they were so hardworking, now shes nothing but a lazy A$$. and her husband tells her: "now that you have your green card your going to continue working in that piece of S*%# job??? As if it is demeaning to be a waitress. They are cheaters and they cheat the system worst than the illegals do. her husband makes about 60-70 thousand a year and only payes taxes for like 20. These are all LEGAL IMMIGRANTS!!!! WTF!!!! that pisses me off. and thats why more illegals keep coming because as soon as the ones already here get their green cards they dont wanna do the low paying dirty jobs either.
Then business will hire more illegals instead of the legal one to get more profit.... these new illegals will then demand to be legalized.... once they're legal they want better wages, which in turn cause business to hire other illegals...
hey Dave do you employ ppl that are illegal in the states or that are illegal to be emplayed? Theres a difference! Like I am legal in the USoA but I'm not alowed to work! So I would be happy to find a place where I could work to feed my little son! But I don't see why someone would give a person a job, that don't even care if they are legally in this country or not! I know it's easier to come her and stay here illegal than to do the right thing, because I'm still trying to do the right thing!
Oh, and I feel very sorry for all the people that hate immigrants so much! You are missing a chance of meeting a new culture!
But anyway you can't take one for all! Evry person is different and every immigration case is different, and it's just wrong to say you want'em all out!

I have created a website, to support the immigrants and educate Americans on the difficulties they face. It also has interesting statistics and provides info on immigration forms.
