Jillian – PLEASE!!! Take it easy. Just look at other people here – some of them are with no status etc. and they are still doing OK. This is a pretty normal thing – you cannot afford your own house yet – everybody understands that. Just calm down and as I said – RELAX! Dance the whole night, get drunk or as I said do whatever you like and STOP THINKING about your interview!!! Imagine what you achieved so far – you went through all immigration stuff so far with luck, you are a brave mother taking care of your son and you managed the whole moving process. Just one interview is not going to knock you down! Please take my words as the MOST HONEST ADVICE: imagine that they are not going to kill you! Because they will not kill you and everything is going to be OK. I wish I lived nearby to be able to escort you over there by myself ...
THank you Honey for those kind words... your right too..if i dont chill out i will surley wind up in hospital.. If in 15 days if i go and things turn out to be OK, i will look like a total moron..however, unfortunaly i dont think thats going to be the case...i wish it were that simple.. i just they would give us a "how well do you know your spouse" quiz or even give us a lie detector test would just be so much less complicated.
this is worse than a chapter in war and peace... i think were all as nervous as u are... Please do what I said earlier.. go into the chat with lawyer... describe ur situation and ask him... i for one cant wait for the 20th to come.... !!!!!!!!!!!
Gosh, no attorney needed, why the h-ell should she talk to an attorney, because she aka they have to go to an interview that was jointly filed and what is the attorney gonna do,and often an attorney looks always like "hmm something is up" you guys need no attorney.PERIOD!
Now,relax and relax...and be cool. Again interviews are normal...sometimes couples are being called to an interview to see,if both of them will show up - meaning,if not, they know whats up...and once u are there, they will ask u stuff like,so how is life going, where do you work and how do u guys support yourself etc etc.
And remember they do not gonna ask u why u guys do not live in a house, but they might wonder why not live together in an apartment that is not expensive, compared to having a house. U know stuff like that...
I am just not sure why U are sooo worried about an interview of which you knew can happen, before the conditions are being removed u know..its normal. Its just to double check. Again, usually scammers are tooo worried and freaked out...so why are you? unless u have something to hide, and we all know here u do not.So make no biggie about it.
Yeah, they might ask some questions like, where you husband works and how much he makes and whats his work phone number etc...but they only ask those tricky questions if they get the impression right away, there is something wrong, kinda like the marriage interview...
As far your affadvit goes from your mom. Affadavits are only needed to show that friends and relatives can swear, that u 2 are indeed together and how u guys met how they got to know you and how often they interact with you.thats the perpose of an affadavit... but your moms affadavit is,that u guys live there and she is attesting to it... thats gonna be looked at differently u know.
Just trsut me,if u guys show up to the interview, they will right away tell "this couple is indeed married and together"
remember, they will question your immigrant spouse more than you,if they even question you guys.
do u guys have drivers license that show the same address? or credit cards with same name? copy of flight tickets? vacation pictures? x mas cards giving to eachother, love cards, birthday cards? or cards or letters sent to you guys addresses to both you and him with the same address????

HBKHBK - logic behind is to conduct a test(on a sample, or % of applicants) and see who USCIS is otherwise "letting through" without the interview (which is required by Act). And that's in addition to the interviews that are scheduled for people who lack evidence, are divorced.. etc.
sure, we have all those things..drivers lisence wiht our address... we also will be bringing tons of photos including ones of our marriage, our reception (which was held a month after the actual marriage) with us with champagne, feeding each other cake we have close to a hunderd congratulatory wedding cards, christmas cards from relatives, valentines ray gave me on valentines day
another reason i still live at mothers has to do with my handicapped son as he requires a lot of care, and she helps out with him a great deal..we probably woudl get an apartment but my son can be very very noisy (he screams violently and tantrums sometimes because he is au****tc)...if we got an aparment , we will surely have neighbor problems...
we will be bringing in our video camera because there is videos of us at home , at the beach, at the pool, at musikfest, in Massachusetts, usually the videos, one of us is doing the filming the other, but the other person is always "narrating" so you can hear that we are together in these videos. we will be bringing our digital camera, that has photos of us when i went to ireland to visit his family last year...He is going again in march to visit his family, but i am not going this time because its too expensive. I still need to find the video of his family when they came to visit us, and there is one of christmas i cant find that one....
I also have another affidavit from another friend, because he did not give it to us till AFTER we had re-submitted our evidence..
I am just scared because i got the impression that because we got this notice we are in some kind of trouble about something, and i have no idea what it could be we did (or didnt do_) when we went for the original green card interview AOS, we had a very nice interviewer. He totally remided us of MR PETERMAN from Seinfeld (Elaines boss) but we know some of the interviewrs can be really really horrible and misstreat people who do not deserve it. we ran into one of those before..i think those people are power hungry. There was one woman when we went for the first time who was so nasty i was shaking like a leaf. I hated her. and i am praying we dont end up wiht someone like her...i hope we get the same interviwer we had last time but i doubt it.. tired..only had about 6 hours total sleep in 3 nights. jyll
For the records, INS does not and even stated, do not want you to sent any kind of video tpes or bring it along with you, because they do not watch them.So don't waste your time...
and sweetie, u do not need to bring proof u got married and marriage photos, they already know all that years ago, from your marriage interview. They do not wanna see the same proof...they wanna see proof after marriage, not from the marriage,u know...so your marriage pics etc is not gonna matter at all..you need to etsablish the fact after marriage....
Its true that interviews are based often on lack of evidence and to double check...i know more divorce cases where the conditons were removed without an interview..as my attorney said before "if u sent enough proof,no interview is requeired, even in divorce case...
and interviews are also meant to see if the marriage or past marriage in divorce case was real and all...
You can't seriously expect to go to the USCIS with all of this:
quote:
1. Bank statments in both our names. 2. health insurance in both our names... 3. car insurance in both our names 4. taxes filed in both our names 5. vacation itinerary in both our names... 6. our AAA membership in both our names 7. TEN affidavits from friends stating our marriage 8. a copy of the paper from rays work saying that i am the beneficiary on his life insurance 9. cards from my handicap sons (his stepson, my son from a previous marriage) saying i have my husbands name as a contact down in case of an emergency 10. copy of school reports that said both my husband and i attedned my sons school meetings. 11. a copy of the tax return check in both our names 12. boarding passes from our trip to disney 13. dozens and doezens of photos of us in Ireland, at the beach, in disney, on holidays, at the pool, at friends house, at amusement parks, etc...
Then come out with something like this:
quote:
since we do not own our own house and live at my mothers, we sent
1. an affidavit from my mother stating we live at her house as man and wife
See, you have all this money to do and cover points 1-13; but NOT to get your own place?

A few years back it seemed the norm that most people had interviews, now it seems the norm that most do not.
Obviously they pull in for interview those they may have flagged for some reason, but they also pull in a selection where they have no particular reasons.
As far as the affadavits are concerned, I know of at least one respected lawyer who never bothers sending in any, must be the weakest form of evidence.
Most people applying to adjust status are currently interviewed, some, not many, just get their GC's in the post. Would not surprise me if this changes if they legalise the illegals.
If you have a legit case, do not sweat it, no big deal.
thank you ntfd2..i am really so so scared...my instincts just tell me its going to be awful...been a tough two weeks, and i have lost 11 lbs from not eating (ANYTHING) from worry. but i will surely let you know the outcome of the meeting.

Im sorry i didnt reply yesterday...we got home and i was just to tired to go on line but i owe of you an explaination so here it is..
Basically we were approved (Thank heavens) ...
we went in, and waited till an hour and half after our scheduled interview, only to be called in where they fingerprineted my husband , swore us in and the iterviewer, who was very very very nice, had our Entire file in front of him..he looked at it before we came in, and told us
"I dont even need to interview you guys, really . I have NO idea what the adjuster in vermont was thinking...It was obvious as the nose on someones face, that we are 100% legitimate." he asked us a few basic questions, and stamped hubbys passport.
He told me that yes, only people called into the office for i751 interview are red flagged but there was absolutly no reason for us to be..he was very aplogetic that he said the day was a big waste of time for everyone. He said we should have never, never been called for this inteview, and he seemed very unimpressed with the VT office. That is why i was so nervous in the first place ...WE knew our evidence was strong, very good evidence..but we also knew only people who were under suspicon got called for the interview, so i had no idea whatsoever, what was wrong..if i knew what was wrong , i could have corrected it , but since i couldnt figgure it out, is because everything was in place, and the adjuster in VT had just gone crazy on us...having a bad day or something, but fortunaly our local office realized this. he said anyone can see that we are married unless they are blind...he thought that the fact we were called for the interview was ridiculous. thats why i was so scared! I had no idea what was going on and i was like "Dear God what did we do wrong? what more do they want from us? " apparnaly it wasnt us..
So , we were happy with the outcome, but wish it never happend in the first place. wasted all that time and energy being petrified, gathing up evidence we relly didnt even need in teh first place...
I guess adjusters can be wrong...they are only human afterall..
so yes, if anyone here is ever called for an interview, which is rare, if you are legit, that will show and someone will realize this and all will be OK..we learned the hard way. Jyll
