My husband is from Ireland and we have been married since August 2003.

He got his green card and we wnt to the aos interview no problem and the officer told us in 18 months we would have to file a 1 751 to lift the conditions but he said it should be no problem...
well we sent our i751 form in july 2006, we had to send more evidence to prove a bona fide marriage.
so we sent
1. Bank statments in both our names.
2. health insurance in both our names...
3 car insurance in both our names
4 taxes filed in both our names
5. vacation itinerary in both our names...
6 our AAA membership in both our names

we got a mail back 2 months later stating we had "INSUFICCENT EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT BONA FIDE MARRIAGE" we were baffled ...we needed to send more evidence...

since we do not own our own house and live at my mothers, we sent
1. an affidavit from my mother stating we live at her house as man and wife
2. TEN affidavits from friends stating our marriage
3 a copy of the paper from rays work saying that i am the beneficiary on his life insurance
4 cards from my handicap sons (his stepson, my son from a previous marriage) saying i have my husbands name as a contact down in case of an emergency
5 copy of school reports that said both my husband and i attedned my sons school meetings.
6 a copy of the tax return check in both our names
7 boarding passes from our trip to disney
6 dozens and doezens of photos of us in Ireland, at the beach, in disney, on holidays, at the pool, at friends house, at amusement parks, etc...

well , we sent that in , and now we got a mail saying we both must report to the USCIS in philadelphia for an interview!!! I have heard they dont call interviews for this unless it is supsicous...

what more do they want from us??? what could be wrong?

please, any feedback wold be apprciated...i am really really scared ...did anyone else ever hear of this before?

we have a friend, who has a wife in Belgium and all they sent in was 1 utility bill, and one affidavit from a friend, and thiers was fine...

im so scared.

Hello:

I am here I understnad how you must feel. I went to India jan 2003 my husbnad is still there and I am in the USA. I have sent all those same doucments and more. My husbnad has been to two Interveiws was told everything look good. Embassy made a visit in the neighborhood and was given some wrong information and he was denied for the 3rd time. I have fired my lazy attorney and reported him to the GA Bar Association. I have made contact with my senator Saxby Chambliss his staff in Ga. is helping us. I have beed told they are hatfeful at those interveiws. My husband told me they laugh at him the first time. They really try to make life hard for people who wnat to live together. we now have Homeland Security working on our case.

Theone is correct; some I-751 applicants are randomly selected for the interviews. Don't worry.

If it was me, I'd show up at the interview with a positive attitude and more supporting evidence. Don't go there angry and contentious.

btw, are you a US Citizen?

Something must have redflagged you. Got a laptop? got a wedding video? Bring it to you interview. Bury them in evidence.

first and foremost CALM DOWN!!!!! I have been following this discussion and I am seeing quite obviously that you have moved swiftly into PANIC MODUS!! Sit down with a hot cup of tea and a couple of chocolate buscuits : ) Be reasonable and patient. U know when ur appt is, so start now to gather documentation that in ur belief proves ur in a legit relationship. As u have heard the volume of "evidence required" differs from appt to appt. U have got this far stop being a grim reaper and think all is bad. Go to the appt with confidence. If ur scared u will throw off bad vibes. A little nervous is allowed (Grins) U as u say are in a sound solid relationship so go in there proud and grateful that ur marriage is working as u expected it to look how many fail in the initial process before they even get as far as u both are. Take as much evidence as u feel is correct for u, no one can tell u whats right and wots not. These people that interview u are humans, experienced in their job. But that is all they are doing a job. Dont be scared, its going to put a lot of pressure on ur family. Look at it as going for a bank loan, on the other hand dont.. they scare the %^# out of me. Dont lie, dont try and impress, just be little ole you. And hubby be little ole hubby. And think of this, and it might put some light into why ur being requested to go to a interview. How many people say they are still married and have an agreement with thier spouses until they have the permanent green card and in reality are both seperated. How the minority mess it up for the majority. Go enjoy a lovely Sunday! AND CALM DOWN!!!!

I know , i know i am a drama queen ...*grin*
i probably wouldnt be so worried if i knew this was the norm or even if i ever heard of someone who went through this..
most people i have spoken to said "Oh! that is so uncommon...they must be suspicous of you or somthing."

When we had our AOS interview nearly 2 years ago, i THINK the officer told us they may or may not want to interveiw us a second time. but to me it seemed very uncommon...

that coupled with them asking for additial eveidnece after i sent everything under the sun...

maybe we will bring our video camera and photos of us on our vacations...Granted , i am not in a lot of the photos usually because i am the one TAKING The photos. they are usually of my hubby and me, with my son (his stepson)...they will be able to tell it is my son because he will be with us at the interview..he has autism, and my husband is very good with him.

i have been googling a lot to see of other people experience ....a few people have had these interviews many of htem separated...however, no one ever comes back to post about the end result so i never know how they turn out...

Jillian, take it easy. All will be OK. I know, you are scared but when you are scared the USCIS officers will feel it. And it will help nothing; it just might make things worse – than you might really become a ‘victim’ of interrogation. I am in the same position as you – I had some papers extra, yes, like a birth certificate of our son and our house deed but I am scared too (I have not received a reply from USCIS yet). Just BTW, do you know what my husband said? If they deny us, we can always go to Czech Republic; I will try to learn Czech though (after 4 years we are together he knows 20 Czech words).
I have seen some examples of interview question somewhere; I just cannot find them now (I tried for more than an hour). So if I find them, I will post them for you later.
Good luck.

thank you for that example of an interview...its pretty straightforward..I have seen other interviews where they ask personal, and even embarrassing questions...i hope we arent drilled that badly...

I still think i am gonna call congressman office tomorrow and see if they cant figgure out why we are being called in...

i promise though, i will let you know what happens in the interview..so anyone who has to go though the same thing might know what to expect.

Jyllian,
here is the deal. And this is not an opinion unlike other just gave you etc.

Fact of matter is this, the interviews are not randomly selected,if you were called for an interview, there is a reason, and you are not being called, just for fun,or because someone randomly chose to invite you and cal you for an interview.

What month did you sent your application? and once you sent it,what was the first thing you ever received from them.Did you receive your extanded letter? did you receive you biometrics appointment? since u say 2 months after u sent your application in,u received a letter, ins asking you guys to sent more evidence, right?

your 10 affadavits sound nice, but even 20 affadavits won't matter,if its written dumbly with no sence.Affadavits are need to eb writen well.If the affadavits looked weird,or similar. It will put a question mark on them.

U sent the basic evidence, everyone does....
but what did you sent after that letter from INS asking you for more?

U should know, even people who file for i751 as a waiver, menaing they are divorced need to proof the exac same thing you do as married, and even they go without an interview if the evidence is big u know. All u need to proof is that the marriage was and is real and that u entered into the marriage in good faith.

I persoanlly think, the main reason u are being called is because u guys do not have anything official that u live together, since u live with the mother.

And sweetie, calling a congressman for that is non-sence and it will not make a tiny bit of difference. It is the law from homeland security to call anyone and everyone for an interview if they have the slightest bit of doubt.Thats their right and thats the law and u have obey them.PERIOD.
So do not waste your time with that...it will make you look bad that u are too worries and what not.Usually people get too worried,if they are hiding something u know.
But no worries, they will probabaly at the interview just double check few things,to make sure u guys indeed live together.
Remember people who scam marriage can easily put eachothers name on insurances and bank accounts...that does not always mean much,Its simple.

Well hope u can and will asnwer the question i asked you...and again,do not worry too much.Interviews are just normal, just do not believe its randomly selected, its not...i am 100% sure its about where u guys live and if u indeed live together.

PS: about the affadavits...

did each person who wrote an affadavit had it notorized and sworn into...and put down their full name, address, social security number and birth date?

remember those are very very important data, otherwise anyone can write something and make it up.....this an advice i have known for a long time from an attorney...

Were the affadavits sworn and notorized?

PS: ignore the sample questions Honey just put down.Thats not gonna happen.

Listen, all those question were probabaly asked when you went to your marriage interview. So they will not ask, where u got married and how you met, when they already heard that once from you before you got your conditional green card.

If they ask something,it will specifically for YOU and you only...they will not ask a question they ask everyone...remember INS officers are not dumb. Before u even eneter the interview room, they already know about you and why u are being called, but YOU don't.Thats why when they call you for an interview they do not list why...well since we all know why.Its to double check anything and everyhting and any doubts they might got from your application.

christ almighty now even i am worried!!! oops
does it make a difference if the mother lives with them or they live with the mother. I can imagine that as she has a autistic son the mother was a great help before she married hubby .... now that hubby is on the scene u cant just up and leave her now can u??? or should u?? Its an interesting thing

Yep HBKHBK, you are almost positively right. I just meant to help - nobody knows what they might ask you. And since everybody is nervous, you might forget even a town where you were born. I remember once (the leaving exam for my MA) when the professor asked my name, I was not able to remember that ... funny right?
Somewhere else I saw the second int. questions I just cannot remember where - it was like on what side of the bed do you sleep etc.
But it depends.

Honey,
I am sorry though,i did not mean to have it sound like, your samples were wrong or anything.Just in this case, the question are different...and I am here to help too.
Well I hope she will write down and asnwer the questions I have asked, fully and we go from there.

nftd, no worries...the thing INS is concerned is not if married couple live with their in laws or not,but if they do...its not that easy or simple to proof they indeed live together under one roof u know.Thats from the ins point of view...when I got married we lived for 5 months at my in laws house, until we found a nice place of our own.

But remember the reason for that is the following. Most people who do marriage fraud,do not live together at all.Thats the reason,so the minute they see "hmm" they do not have their own place and claim to live together at the mon's,they pay a closer look to it.

They just wanna make sure u live indeed together, not where u live, but living together as husband and wife.
