Hi! I am an LPR, I would like to know if being outside of the U.S. because i was attending college abroad would affect if i apply to be a naturalized citizen. I was out for more than 6 months but less than a year...
Would that be an acceptable reason?

No. USCIS does not care why you were out of the U.S. All they care about is how long you were out and whether you meet the residency requirements to be eligible to apply for naturalization.

Absence between 6 months and a year MAY break residence for naturalization. If you were a student, you probably were not employed oversea, an automatic break in residence, but you have to prove that you did not disrupt your status. Some examples would be whether you filed US taxes, maintained a house or apartment in the US, or had immediate family who remained in the US.

thanks..so what do you think is my chances of getting naturalized? I think i can prove that i didn't disrupt my status, i do have my family here in the U.S. while i am out of the country...we still live in the same place for 8years..so what do you think?
