I have filed a I 129 fiance visa petition. It was approved and sent to the US Consulate in Lagos. The interviewer said that we dont have evidence of a fiance relatioship and that they are recomending revocation. I have emailed every day and contacted my US State senators here in VA and have consulted 3 different lawyers. We have enough evidence I have been to Nigeria on 2 occasions and have pictures to prove it. I have emails, cards, and e-ticket conformations. I dont know what else to do I feel as though the interviewer was very biased. My fiance said that all the other interviewers asked questions about pictures and everything and that his interviewer just told him to go and have a seat. She was very rude and not inquisitive . My fiance is a law student and I have taken classes to be a paralegal. We both know law and I feel as thoough this woman was not being just. I know we are 12 years in age difference but that should not matter at all. What advise can you give me? I know that the Senators make inquiries to the case and that they can get resilts but these people at the Lagos Consulate are difficult. I know I have Nigerian friends here and know how they have treated them. They all had to go through alot to come here even married people. Nigeria delays some of them for up to 5 even 6 years. It is unjust and not fair. Has anyone here been through this?

how would you "know" whether the consular folks are being "just?" _only because they don't believe your stories...and Nigeria, the Land of Fraud, Land of the Nigerian internet scams, etc, has no credibility. We don't want fraudsters here....you don't have any experience interviewing people for visas, so what gives you the "inside" knowledge about anything? (hint: nothing)...As you have discovered, lawyers can't accomplish anything because they have no power or authority and a senator can only make inquiries, they cannot force the consular officials to approve or deny a visa...period....if you want somebody to blame, blame all the liars and cheats that have gone before your fiance.....(and from what I hear, there are tons)

Welcome betonasia don't let this Someone12 scare you away from this site because there's some knowledgeable people members on this board that can help you when they're online and see your question. Check back in and don't pay any attention to this Someone12. He berates everybody that comes onto this board. Ignore him as if he isn't here. You're not the only visitor that has received his type of replies. He's like a tape recording saying the same thing over and over. Ignore him.

Bentonasia, I agree with Someone12 here.
Nigeria has become world famous for Fraud and corruption, so that may have some influence on the decision maker. You need to understand its true the decision makers need to follow the law but at the same time they can not avoid the world wide fraud and corruption created by Nigerian.

We know and I'm certain the OP is aware that Nigeria is notorious for fraud but S12 doesn't need to respond like he does.

We are held accountable for our own actions and some need to get a life and realize we all are created by one god no matter what country we are from.

There are white people here who scam elderly, and there are people all over the world who do scam dont just try and focus Nigeria. It is world wide.If people are not intelligent enough to avoid being scammed from those people well it's their own faults. They should be wiser. I know I would not fall for such things. I can tell a scammer from miles. People need to get wise and stop being so gullible. read the internet and research before they invest time or money to people they have never even met. There are programs for people here who have had identity theft and people are aware of it and it is white and black americans doing it here. Are you throwing accusations at them?

It's not what anyone hear believes that you need to worry about, Bentonasia. It's what immigration believes. The Consular officer needs to have a very good reason to recommend revocation, and her having a bad day isn't a good enough reason.

The fact of the matter is that there is a high incidence of immigration fraud from countries like Nigeria and there may be certain things in your petition that red flagged it, such as your age difference.

There's a good article here on ILW about Consular denials: http://www.ilw.com/articles/2006,0323-ellis.shtm

There are 4 Categories of Countries as far as Immigration Fraud is concerned, Nigeria is in its own in the 4th category.

Sounds like you need to work on evidencing the relationship, a few more trips perhaps.

Yeah I am going back soon and have already contacted an attorney. I think it was the age difference but most I have talked to here said it should not matter. I talked to 3 different lawyers and they all say the same.

let's see if I can guess what the OP looks like and her background....5'5", 180 lbs, never been to the high school prom, barely passed high school, never went to college, and is about as desperate a person as those who frequent the meadows over at immigrate2us.lard.
Probably lives in a trailer with her mother and works in retail (WalMart, assistant manager restocking kotex) or in fast food..met this fraudster on the Internet and has fallen prey to yet another Nigerian scam artist...what a surprise..
bottom line, you could hire every immigration attorney in the United States and NONE of them could change the consular official's decision...not one...internet marriage scams are alive and well in Nigeria, land of fraud.
Each year there is a published list of countries and their fraud and corruption ranking...Nigeria is always amongst the leaders of fraud and corruption....end of story, no matter what exlora thinks....but go ahead and hire some attorney,,,,see what results....

and taking one paralegal course does not make you or your fraudster fiance an expert on US immigration law...let's see...how many people have YOU interviewed who were seeking a fiance visa? (zero)...yet the consular official likely has interviewed thousands....she wins on experience, knowledge and smarts.

and your god does not regulate US visa policy....and like those who have limited IQs, whenever you run out of facts to support your point of view, you quote dogma from the bible...but the bible does not regulate our borders either, nor does it have some mystical power over anyone with an IQ over 88.

and finally, since you decided to close your PM, I don't care what color somebody's skin is....I don't like fraudsters and I tire quickly of people like you who think you know more about our immigration laws and policies than those who actually work in the field (like the folks in the consular section in NIgeria).your whining is similar to the land-based manatees chewing their cud over at immigrate2us.size18...they all believe that they know more about our laws and rules than anyone else...yet, there they are, everyday, munching bon bons by the ton, complaining about our "unfair"laws...forgetting that the reason they are unhappy is because their dirtbag illegal alien spouse violated our laws....whose fault is that???..if you think you are really that smart, become a consular official....just because they don't agree with your opinion about a case does not make their decision incorrect....I want people coming here to the US for honest reasons, not baloney. Events of 200 years ago don't impact my feelings about legal and illegal immigration, not should they.

I would like to make a comment if I may regarding Nigeria and scams.

I watched a documentary about this a while ago, can't remember which one, but a famous TV show.

Yes maybe the scams are coming in from Nigeria, but did you know it actually isn't Nigerians that are doing it.

There was undercover investigations going on, it turned out that many of these people who were doing variety of scams, whether email, ebay, money, you name it, were in fact....Americans, French, Bulgarian, and can't remember the others. I will throw in a Brit too just in case lol
Anyway..my point is that it was International people who were sent out there or already out there for one reason or another, and it was them who were the masterminders behind these scams.
They are paid a huge amount of money to do this.

Two of them were actually asked, once undercover revealed who they were, why were they doing this, don't they feel ashamed etc..and the fraudsters said for the money. It was easy money and because they don't know the victims personally it doesn't hurt their feelings.

SO you see...even if Nigeria is the location of where some of these scams come out of, like some other countries, it isn't necessarily the Nigerians or the natives of that country.

Just wanted to put my two cents worth in Smile
