Just to clear up a matter - not deported, it is voluntary departure in case of I-601 waiver.

paralegal? got to be more than that. i've got my own doubts since sometime back. who is he fooling, the neophytes who joined this board days ago? clear up his fixation with anti-illegal immigration invectives and you can touch on the rock bottom reserve of his solid knowledge on immigration.

Again, if the moderators (or whomever) wish to censor postings, they can do so (and they would usually publish guidelines for acceptability so no one [or few] could be surprised if their contribution was either edited or removed - though some might disagree with such editing)...if rules are published and somebody does not respect those rules, they should (ideally) expect that there will consequences (such as having a posting edited or removed)

Monday Briefing

The good...

...SWIFT RESPONSE Talk about public relations. Swift & Co. put its money where its mouth is last week by donating $100,000 to various tornado reliefe programs. The town of Cactus, home to a Swift meat-packing plant, was hit hard by a tornado April 21. Destruction of the level that ransacked Cactus would cause significant problems in a large city, so when at least 71 homes are damaged in a smaller city like Cactus, the effects are even more devastating. Swift spread out the money to the Cactus Disaster Relief Fund, the Texas Panhandle Chaper of the American Red Cross and to Moore County. Swift also is discussing how it can help with the construction of rental housing units in the area. This is the type of
corporate response that is necessary to help an area rebuild and recover.

FEMA housing arrives in towns Tulia, Cactus each get one trailer home

By Brad Newman
brad.newman@amarillo.com

FEMA handed over keys to two temporary trailer homes - one in Cactus and one in Tulia - on Monday.

The families lost homes due to tornadoes and were given temporary houses this week.

"One of our missions in recovery is to provide safe and secure housing for the victims," said Bob Alvey, external affairs officer with FEMA.

"When all other options for housing has been exhausted, we need to bring in these manufactured homes."

Tornadoes struck both towns on April 21, leveling homes and businesses.

"One of our missions in recovery is to provide safe and secure housing for the victims."
Bob Alvey, external affairs officer with FEMA
The houses provided this week were the first of possibly many temporary trailers to be given, Alvey said.
In Moore County, FEMA has received 203 registrations for housing assistance. The agency has received 157 registrations from people in Swisher County.

"We should be seeing more approved in the coming days," Alvey said.

Moore County Judge Rowdy Rhoades toured the home in Cactus on Monday morning.

"It was unbelievable," he said. "This was a three-bedroom trailer, brand new, fully furnished.

"For someone who has lost everything, this is a great help."

The trailer home occupants can stay for 18 months.

Rhoades said all remaining storm debris was removed Monday, and the cleanup process has been smooth.

"We have a lot to be thankful for," he said. "FEMA and all the other emergency crews have been great."

Tornado victims can still register for assistance.

For more information, call (800) 621-FEMA or visit www.fema.gov.
