I am having a difficult time figuring out the potential effect of the reform bill on my friend. She is from Honduras, been in the States for 15 or so years, paid taxes, and has Temporary Protected Status. Can someone help me figure out what her status will be after reform?
Too early to fathom, my friend. Have you been following the course of amendments on Senate floor this week? After the Senate, everything will be reconciled on the House floor. Then (if at all possible or feasible), the final bill will be sent to the President(??????). Only after the President signed it into law can we confidently talk about the nitty-gritty.

I haven't seen anything addressed for TPS in the reform bill, but have someone who cleans our office who came here under TPS. She's one of the most honest, humble human beings I've ever met. If anyone deserves a break, she and her family do. We offered her a sizeable sum to clean one of our construction sights. Guess what, unlike American workers, she said it was too much money! She said she could only make fair wages (we would have paid $2,000 to any American firm (and they are worthless!) - so why shouldn't she and her family make this money instead? She's from El Salvador, has learned our language, she's one of the most delightful people I've ever met, why shouldn't she get a chance to live here? I'm asking you, SundevilUSA - because you are an immigrant? Why shouldn't she have the same chance as you? She's here legally? As an immigrant, I'm sure you have some compassion for these folks - why can't you stop with your nasty posts? Just because you were able to become legal doesn't make every other person trying to do it a liar, or scammer. Think back when you were going through the process! I don't think you are the self-righteous person you portray yourself to be on this board. I think you believe you have a reputation to maintain (as S12, Sickof and Sonof have). But I think you are better than any of these eets!

ProudUSC: With all due respect, but your cleaning lady did NOT come to America with Temporary Protected Status. TPS was granted to those from Honduras and El Salvador who were illegally in America when certain natural disasters befell their countries of origin.
I respect your cleaning lady for learning America's language, but the fact still remains that she and her family believed themselves too important to adhere to America's laws and respect its sovereignty.
