I hope this will become a sticky soon, very soon. Sam, I made this for everyone. It is a compilaition of rules on message boards that I have been a member of. I hope you will find this acceptable.
By all means we want you to enjoy yourselves here - just remember what ILW is all about and try to conduct yourselves accordingly. Let's keep this the best immigration support forum on the web.
Make your questions (and responses) as clear and intelligible as possible. If English is your native language then please use punctuation and well structured sentences to whatever extent possible. It is easier to read and understand your problem (and solution) if it's.... well, if it's easier to read. If English is not your native language, then just do the best you can. We'll figure it out. Keep the questions short and to the point, avoiding "stories" as much as possible.
Try to post questions in the appropriate thread. Moderators will move them if needed, but it's easier for all concerned if they are where they belong in the first place.
Please use standard size font when posting. All caps or large or small fonts or all bold or italic is not only hard to read, it's generally considered poor forum etiquette. For example, all caps is considered the equivalent of YELLING.
Of course foul language and rude behavior will not be tolerated. Neither will spam or advertising of any sort.
Also off limits are discussions of hacking, illegal downloads, posting sexually explicit or ****ographic images, links, or posts, and advertising of products.
Please give your post a relevant topic subject. Topics titled "Please Help" don't attract as much attention from our regulars as something more descriptive.
Use common sense when posting. We are a public, global forum. We are frequented by people of all ages and nationalities. What you find humorous others may very well find crude or offensive. Keep in mind we are primarily a technical support forum.... people don't come here expecting to be be confronted with offensive material or language of any sort.
Sometimes people can write something that you may find offensive. Before launching into a public condemnation though, please consider that the person may not have intended to cause offense. It is very easy to misinterpret a post on forums, especially when dealing with multinational citizens. There is absolutely no need to resort to insults. Respect others' views even if you disagree with them.
What is a troll? It's a person who posts something which is bound to stir people up and then sits back and watches as dozens of people jump in and start arguing. Sometimes trolls get their friends to join in or post under different names. Generally they will do anything it takes to get attention. If you see a message like this, please try and refrain from replying to it - it may well be locked/deleted anyway.
Trolls are generally deceitful and may use ambivalence as a method of covertly insulting, intimidating, or inciting a person or persons for their own sadistic pleasure. They often pick their words very carefully and are therefore able to defend their masked attempts at creating unrest, often redirecting the blame onto the community and its failure to understand them properly.
Trolling is further considered one of two things; Either running a topic into the ground incessantly, or dragging up old arguments against a specific user/group/etc. long after the original discussion gas been put to rest and then targeting them/it specifically and needlessly. Trolling is the first step toward outright harassment of other members. This is the single biggest no-no in the community. Letting every argument drop isn't always a possibility, but learning when to let things go is a valuable tool, and not just in this community
You cannot attack and/or personally insult someone. You cannot bait other forum members. Please, remain courteous and respectful to all forum members at all times.
You cannot post the same thing in multiple forums. You must not open similar threads about the same or a similar topic. You cannot spam the board or send unsolicited messages to members via PM, email or any other means.
If you want to add, please feel free.

Since Your Idea Of a Troll Is Someone That Is An Individual and Comes To ILW For Their Own Individual Reasons. Why Don't You Moderate What Questions People Are Allowed To ask????? Why Dont You Moderate The Answers Also????? TROLL = Anyone With Different Thinking Than You!!!! Gee... Isnt That Like Where You Came From???? Why Destroy Freedoms Here! Easy! Go Back!!!!
****!!! While Your At It Why Dont You Moderate/Control Who Is Allowed To Come To ILW??????
After That, Why Dont You Moderate/Control The Discussions???? When Disagreements Appear To Bother You! Why Not Delete Them??????
Why Stop There?!!!! How About Making ILW ASIA Friendly Only??????
Better Yet, Lets Move USA and ILW To ASIA!!!!! Then You Can Legally Follow The Government There!!!!
The New ILW! Will = ILW.Asia.ORG!!!!
jkhvghjhjhjbxzjkvhudfgbvjdfgvhjd
NO DISCUSSION SHOULD BE PUT TO REST!!! there is always someone in this world that can benefit/relate to previous discussions!!!!
WHAT YOU SPEAK OF IS COMMUNISM/Dictatorship Thinking!!!!!! Getting Rid Of What You Yourself Do Not Desire!!! Without Regard Or Respect or Understanding There Are a Billion People In This World Different Than You!!!!
WHAT I SAY = USA!!! The Separation Factor!!!! If You Do Get What You ask For? Which I Seriously DOUBT!!! It Will Become A Place Of Your WORLD! NOT OURS!!!
You Will Create That Very Thing You Dreamed Of Escaping Your Whole Life!!!!!

There is a reason since the Philippines is located in that area.

It was more or less a democracy. Although Marcos and his shoe loving wife embezzled most of the country's treasury. They did promote our ideals and assisted in keeping the reds out.
You voted democrat. This country is not worth sneaking into any more.

This is good, Hudson! I hope Sam will take a look. These rules seem fair and appropriate for this forum. Let's keep pushing this post up the list today so Sam can view and comment.
Good Morning Proud, Thanks for the reply. I want to see what Sam's take is on this. With all that has been happening the last few weeks, this topic has been on my mind for quite some time. And I think Sam may need a little suggestion to reform this forum a little bit more.

Hey Hudson,
I totally agree! Hopefully, he will look at this thread and take some notes. You have listed some very good points!
