I'm here CM.....just got a letter and got called in for jury service for the 7th of April....but I'll try to excuse myself next week, so I may not going to be around....o.O

Maybe you'll get lucky like I did. I had jury duty for the past two weeks and they never called my group number - lol!!! I was so happy because I had already served several years ago and it is not a fun experience. Quite boring.

Oh jury service for you too. I wouldn't mind doing it, but would rather see an interesting case and not a long one at that.

Do they accept sickness as an excuse...tell them you have chronic diahorea and chronic wind problems lol

Hey 4now maybe you can answer my question i asked earlier about the "intent to deny" letter that my friend got yesterday from USCIS concerning his I-130 interview?...here is the jist of the story------>They had an I-130 interview in Dec 08 but didnt get an approval right away the IO told him he got to show evidence of bona fide marriage from the previous marriage marriage which he didnt have much because she left him after 3 weeks of marriage,he did have some evidence not alot like letters from friends stating that they knew of the marriage and it was in good faith,divorce decree and i think receipt for the rings anyways he did submit all the evidence to USCIS and he just got a letter of intent to deny is there anything they can do? normally if it's deny the case will go to the court right? but what would be the situation seeing that he's already in removal proceedings.

@Sprint: haha, I don't think that would be a good excuse 'cause then probably I would have to send medical proof of that! I'm actually thinking that how can they check if I'm abroad or not? I could write them a letter, send it to a friend abroad, who would put it into a different envelope and send it to them. So this way, I could write in my letter that I'm currently abroad therefore I cannot present myself physically....what do you think?

Hi Jeanine,

I can only speak for my state, but you can't get out of jury duty easily. I know a person whose son was in the hospital in critical condition and they didn't let her off, so I think your best hope is they don't call your group number.

The last time I served, I was called for 3 trials and had to serve 4 days on one of them. I think the best advice I can give (if you really want to get out of it) is to tell them you won't be able to render a fair verdict. I think that will excuse you every time. I know it's our civic duty to be jurors, but it's a very painful process - lol! Good luck to you however it goes, Jeanine.
