I wonder if an airline would do a reduced rate on compassionate grounds? I know this is possible if a family member dies and you have to get back ASAP.

Failing that, if we all chipped in $100 each, he'd have the ticket. About $800-1000 one way. Dunno how much a compassionate rate would be but probably less than that.

Basically for the hell of it. Been a few weeks since I was up and didn't want to get rusty. Flew out of Gilespe KSEE.

That was what I was in, a Warrior to be exact. It was actually quiet. Not a lot going on in the San Diego East county airspace.

Ahhh...all that VFR stuff. I've forgotten all that. It's always IFR for us. Easier in some ways but less freedom. And flying in New York airspace is not fun. Those controllers are so rude.

I did ask Embassy if they had connections to any airlines for that same reason and they don't.

Yes you are right about compassionate ground rates, I myself had it when I had to fly back 2 yrs ago when father was dying. It was peak season, but they gave me the tickets for less than half the price. I had to send fax to them to prove the compassionate grounds.

I suggested this to JK..he will have to speak to the airlines direct, as they have special departments for this only.

Yeah, I just looked it up on there before my last post. Getting crazy. It costs more to hop "across the pond" than to go to the Philippines!

Through experience it is cheaper to buy a return ticket.

He will be flying from Jacksonsville, but pref Orlando as I think its cheaper.

He would be flying to Manchester or Birmingham, England..as that is the nearest and cheapest airports to Wales.

I think I will check out Virgin, they do good deals.

Shame he isn't in NY, you can get home for $99.

Icelandair fly from Orlando-Sanford (SFB) to Heathrow for $888 one way inc all taxes. Round trip was about $1378. Of course it's not near to Wales.

Ummm, unless air-to-air refueling is available or an aircraft carrier somewhere in the Atlantic..nope Big Grin

Airplanes are ferried across the Atlantic all the time. Usually go from Bangor, ME thru Greenland into Europe. Angelflight do a lot of medivac flights across the USA I dunno if they help with international stuff:

Time to restart. Mine is starting to act funny. The more I post, the funnier it acts. It has something to do with the computer memory because it takes a while after a restart for it to happen. See you in about 20 minutes - lol (that's about how long I have to wait for a restart to complete).

Clear your cookies Proud. I already did mine, but it still slowed down. Its ILW..I think maybe they can't handle the traffic or something.

Saying that, its quiet during the night, and it's worse then, unless they do some sort of back up at that time of night.
