There are circumstances when one would only take a money order or certified check. I certainly wouldn't sell my car to someone who handed me a personal check - lol! I would make sure it was backed by the green stuff first! Only makes good sense.

Money order as a worse 'legal tender' than personal check? That's new, or news! Since when???
Now I'm really and truly confused with our friend, DCW, here. He popped up on this forum as if mercifully bracing himself, or picking up the shattered pieces, after a broken marriage.
Like a victim who was duped, or scammed by a maliciously 'conniving family' from the Philippines. I almost fell for his drama, and in the process feel disgusted about the 'culprit' family.
But it's good I held my fire. I have a very, very serious reservation and a blinding cloud of doubts now.
I'm not trying to be judgmental, but rather factual. Because it's not everyday that I encounter somebody with such an out of this world, nope, bizarre, views.
So, the big question on my mind now is: is it a corrupted mind due to a bad marriage, or is the bad mind that corrupted the marriage?

Dcw, nobody is saying that at least. You do. We just discuss, argue perhaps, but that's all there is to it. There's nothing personal. Whatsoever. At all.

I walk into a store and purchase a money order, i get a receipt that i purchased the money order. i send that money order to someone else, they lose it, cash it, whatever. then say I never sent it. the receipt you get is only that you purchased a money order, not a receipt that you actually sent it. and no receipt that it was ever cashed. no proof. a check nowadays, at least here is most often instant, the numbers on the bottom of the check are processed and the $$$$ goes directly into the acct. of the business receiving it. Not ALL! with a check there is the bank to back you up that it was cashed. paid. and to whom cashed it. money order, NO! you can get that info from the company which name is on the money order, American express etc. but not where you purchased it. it usually takes months to get proof of payment from using a money order and you have to pay to get it!
I know this is different than Cman situation, they said they got the money orders. But what if they lost it, lost track of their accounting etc. and said they didn't get it! This is what i am referring to.
They are great for the Payee but not for the payer. at least if any problems would arise.
even if someone dosnt have a bank acct. they can go into most banks and pay 5 dollars for a certified check that the payer can get record later easy that the check was cashed and processed, when, where, and who.
money order no.
I am merchant, process payments of every kind! Here in VA, If you are a Business, Lets say someone owes you 100 dollars and they Write You A check for 50 dollars and pay the rest with a Credit card. the credit card goes through but the check bounces. they can now make payments to you for the 50 that bounced, because it is considered partial payment. If partial payment is accepted in any form. it sets off the ability to pay over time. Sad Truth!
