I'm sure Aguila would post if he heard anything.

ARQU,

Nothing yet. VSC is now almost a month ahead of the receipt date for my second [waiver] filing. I will be scheduling an infopass appointment for mid-December to check the status of my case and to make sure I will travel hassle-free since I am leaving the US to pass the holidays with my family back home.

Just checking...

Sphyrapicus - nothing yet. I see the INS has reported a statistical backlog of I-90's of 6.3 months. My GC would probably fall into that range of a timeline so perhaps one of these days...

I just hope it comes before Dec 31 as I am moving again and they really do a poor job of processing the change of addresses! I would much rather have the card in hand than have to file more change of addresses with VSC and Newark. Of course I'll need to file the AR-11 in London, KY but I would rather not be waiting for the GC when I do it.

Another annoyance is the fact that my Driver's License will expire soon. When I hit the DMV for a renewal, they are only going to give me a license valid until the expiration of the I-551 which is June. That will s u c k as the DMV here is almost as bad as visiting the INS district offices! And of course, there is always a good chance the DMV clerk will have no idea an I-551 proves status so they'll probably will just go ahead and suspend it.

All I can say is it would just be nice to get this 7 year adventure behind me!

Aguila: Hang in there... I would go in the earlier part of December so you can figure out a plan of action if things don't go well.. I would of thought the original receipt date would of stuck but perhaps not... I guess we shall know soon enough.

You and I seem to be the only ones left hanging around here since the 'old days'... I know that I didn't register here until Oct 2003 but we have been hitting this forum for a few years more than that... It would be nice to be able to walk away and not have to think about this subject for another 10 yrs... I remember when I first came to this site I searched on 'I-751' and there were no hits... As we both felt then - it has grown to be a huge issue as they cannot deal with the volume.

Here is a rhetorical question for you all - and I have said it many times... Why in G O D S name doesn't the INS simply postpone the initial marriage AOS interview until after the second wedding anniversary? Most folks have to wait more than a year or so anyway so why not just wait a bit longer... If that was the case, I would have been done with this C R A P way back in 2000 instead of aproaching 2005 with no change!!!

Oh well... Have a great weekend all!

Hey ARQU,

They sent my 10-yr card to my old address in Florida and it was forwarded by USPS to my new address in Vermont. So, if it comes to that, hopefully the address change won't be an issue.

Yes, I saw that 6.3 number in the backlog announcement. It is odd how the I-90s are taking longer than people who have conditions removed or first time AOS'ers. One would think that I-90s would be faster since all of the info is in the computer and no new evidence is being submitted. Go figure.

Good luck to both you and Aguila.

They are actually hoping someday to be able to issue the GC's same day once in cases where all the background stuff is done... I actually laughed out loud when I read that - I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon!

I cannot imagine why it takes 6-12 mos to issue a GC that has already been approved and the background checks all compeleted, etc... They must have one little old guy who puts these things together for everyone in the whole d a m n country!!!!

I have already moved once during this process and it took about 2 yrs (and lots (!) of written notifications to them) to get my new address on file - I even went in person to Newark and had them change it while I was there getting other things renewed... They still didn't get it changed until the very end...

(Note to All: - if you have filed an AR-11 (change of address) often the mail still goes to your old address despite your valant attempts to let them know you have moved. If you have pending applications, you must notify the national location (London, KY), you must notify your DSC and if appropriate you must notify your Regional Center as well! File a change of address with the post office additionally - they just might forward the misdirected mail to you even though it states on the envelope - Do Not Forward. Sometimes it works - other times it doesn't...)

Now I'll be moving again and based on the volume of junk mail (!!!) I get, I simply don't want to have to file a USPS change of address. All the other stuff can go to the dead-letter office. But if it doesn't come before then, I'll have no choice but get all that junk forwarded just so I can get that GC...

ARQU:

It seems that we had a transmission of thoughts, because yesterday I was thinking about you and your wait for the card in the mail. I was wondering if you got it because you had disappear from ILW for a little while. I figure that maybe you were working outside the US or something like that.

It seems that USCIS is now doing a little better with the change of address, last time I reported one was changed immediately although I never got confirmation in the mail.

Are you moving within NJ?

I will make an appointment with Newark for the first week of December. I do not lose hopes of still getting approved without interview despite the fact that I have a waiver case.

I read that Newark can take from anywhere between 6-10 months to schedule an interview from an I-751 that has been transferred from VSC. This could drag my case even to mid 2005 or even worse...

I don't agree with the fact of delaying the AOS interview for two years because many applicants are not elegible for advance parole since they are overstays and therefore they cannot travel. The I-751 should not be a big issue anymore because right know VSC is adjudicating them within a 6 months timeframe. When we filed they had those applications on hold and the adjudication time ranged between 18-24 months.

I will be eligible to file N-400 by mid January 2006, sometimes I have this weird filing that I will be having my I-751 case approved shortly after an eventual naturalization interview or at the interview itself.

I wish I could be mistaken because I've been waiting for almost two years already and sometimes it becomes very hard to control the anxiety. I feel like have I huge stone on my back pushing me down and I must get rid of it.

I thought this year my situation would get resolved, now looking at the calendar I must confront the reality and it seems very hard that I will have my biggest desired for this year fullfilled.

I put two inquiries based on the old receipt date of the joint I-751 and I never got responses, I figure then that VSC would go with the date of the new filing, now I am in the condition of putting an inquiry based on the fact that they already moved a month from my second filing but because it is a waiver case I don't feel comfortable so I rather wait what do you think?

I will keep everyone posted as soon as I get some sort of action in my case. Thanks for your wishings.

Have a great weekend!

I check in almost every day... I just haven't had much to say - especially with all the childish behaviour that has grown on this site...

I'll conceed the Visa Overstay point... But I had to wait for 16 mos for my first AOS interview anyway - another few months and I would have been done.

I am done thinking about immigration for the weekend - I am going to go out and chase birds... (Those of you who are from England will know what that means)...

Later.

Hey ARQU

It could mean you are a birder or it could mean that you're after the babes.

Either way, you could say that you're after a "Double-breasted Mattress Thrasher".

I heard that michael schmitt's mother is very good at mattress trashing, the only inconvenient is that she is single breasted.
