We have booked tickets to travel on February 21 just two weeks after the interview. How likely is it that he will get the I515 stamp the day of his interview
Knicksdee
Are you going to travel on the 21st as planned? or have you decided to wait until the card comes?

We were planning to travel to Cancun for our 1 yr wedding anniversary but instead we changed our flight and we are going to Vegas. I took the advice and I dont think he should even try leaving the country! I hope he gets his green card soon because we have to travel to Colombia in April. The officer told us it should take 3-5 weeks and our interview was February 6th so it should come before that trip...hopefully!

H1 is dual intent so using that would not normally be an issue prior to GC
Assuming still in H1 status I beleieve for example EAD voids H1 Status.

Does anyone know about how long it will take to get the greencard in the mail after the interview? I had my interview 3 weeks ago and just wanted to know how long it will take. Thank you!

Knick4dees quote 3-24-2008 quote: went to my info pass apt to inquire about my greencard. I told the agent i had my interview approx 6 weeks prior and i have to travel in 1 month. She said the only thing she could do is request my paperwork to go to her office and I should receive a response in the mail within 3-4 weeks. What does this mean? Am I getting my GreenCard in 3 weeks or what??? I am so confused should i change my trip? please help!
When you went for your infopass appointment... did you ask the I/O about possibly getting 551 stamp? Did you ask the I/o if you should postpone the trip? Did you ask the I/o what would happen if you left on your trip on how you would get back into the country? Please answer the above

I asked about the 551 stamp she said that my paperwork has not been approved yet! Its been 7 weeks and no approval I told her I had to leave the country in 1 month so she told me I should apply for the travel documents. She also made me fill out a form to request that my paperwork be sent to this particular office. She said that once the request was submitted I should receive a response in the mail. She was not able to tell me if i would receive my green card or not. I dont think I want to apply for Travel Documents because I have heard horror stories. My visa is expired and on the actual application it clearly states that entry can be denyed without an actual current visa. I told the officer that my travel was an emergency she said she can approve travel documents within a day if I prove I had to go (example a doctors note stating someone is ill in my native country). At this point I am really clueles as to what I should do. I wanted to know if this response i will receieve in the mail is the actual green card or not. I have also scheduled another info pass appointment in 3 weeks (exactly 1 week before my travel date)at this point if i am still not approved I will cancel my trip but if I am, I will request the stamp on my passport. Do you have any clue what they meant when they said they were reqyesting my paperwork? Why hasnt it been approved yet? Will they issue a Green Card once they get my paperwork in this office?

other members in your family, however long ago that may have been, you cannot base your experience on theirs. Different times and places I am sure. Besides uscis is overextended and busy currently. Many people dont receive their cards for 90 to 120 days. If you received your card within 8 weeks, that would be good.
did the officer tell you if your paperwork had even been approved yet?
Is this an emergency... or did you just tell her that?
