Is it possible to adjust a status from B1/B2 visitor status to a student status? Can one enroll in school while on a tourist visa?
I am sponsoring my sister for a green card. The process will take a while, and in the meantime she might be eligible for a visa as a special immigrant juvenile.
My question is, what whould be easier to adjust from: tourist visa or student visa?

From what I've read, it is no longer possible to change from B1/B2 visa to student visa while in the U.S. unless the visa holder told the authorities of their student intent at the time she applied for the B.

You can CHANGE status from visitor for business or pleasure (B1/B2) to academic student (F1) by filing form I-539, but you can not attend classes until the application is approved. Check the processing dates for I-539. It can take quite some time.

If you leave the US after changing to student status, you will likely never be allowed to return. State Dep. doesn't like it when play the system.
