Lol Hudson is on a roll again.
Everyone sins Hudson. So do you and so do I... Wink
But what is more obscene and horrid than pedophilia? Just name one thing.
None of the above democrat sins outshine the republican sins.
And the reason is that many republicans are conservatists and thus so, repressed. Pedophilia is just an outlet for the repression. Thank you dear Freud.
I am not even mentioning the victims of republican wars all over the world. Some of them were and are children as well.

IP,
Make up your mind. You said that everyone sins. If you hold this premise as trutj, then does it matter what sin was committed by either ommission or commission? Whether the scandal involves *** or taking money, scandals have involved politicians since the dawn of time. But the other problem you have is this, there have been Democrats who have committed the same acts, but you seem to ignore those or don't want even contemplate about those who have committed the same acts. You even have a heavy supportive groups, called NAMBLA, which advocates pedophiles as normal behavior, mostly for homosexuality ***. And then you have Gerry Stubbs (D-NY), who even admitted to having consensual *** with a minor boy, but never resigned and was never ousted by the voters. He was defiant in the censure by the House of Representatives which both he and a Republican Dan Crane (R-Ill).

Every politician, or even potential politician, whether Democrat or Republican, Green or Libertarian, mainstream or outsider, has at least one skeleton in their closet. The reason is that it has become a sport to personally attack any politician instead of the issues. We have now come to know such groups as 527 groups. And then we question either their loyalty or question who their supporters are which groups intend to place doubt on a candidate simply whose money is contributed. let us take Enron for example. Enron basically contributed to both major parties. In fact, it paid for President Clinton's second inargural event and Gov Greg Davis 2000 Governor election. It also contributed to President Bush while he was both governor and campaigning for president. In 1999, even the Justice Department refused to file charges on Enron for the same reasons why they got in trouble in the first place. Yet, 527 groups want people to believe that Enron only contributed to one party which in fact was not the case.

We stopped trying to listen and debate the issues, but instead use name calling, and quasi-informative news results that fit into one's political idealogy. We stopped questioning those who give us those news about something that we want to hear and only go with what we want to hear.

I agree with you. I hate political fights like this one. Take last Polish presidential election.
At the last moment they dug up a sceleton of one of the candidates. He lost.
They found the information that his grandfather served in the Nazi army. It turned out he was forced to do it. And so was my grandfather. I even saw his pictures in the Nazi outfit. Still some are at home I believe. But he couldnt refuse, unless he wanted to be dead.
So I agree with you.
I simply made a broad brush generalization. Maybe it is not exactly the truth, but still a pattern that occurs.
The way I see the difference between the Dems and Cons is that Dems at least don't try to deny or hide their sins at all costs. I mean, of course, they don't want their mistakes to come out but for a Con, this is a total disaster. Some even commit suicides.
And Dems, look at pres. Clinton, doesnt he seem to be in a funny way proud of the Lewinsky affair? That was some history wasnt it?
And everyone thinks fondly about Clinton and that is because he's human like everyone of us. He's an American guy who has a wife and not so good s.ex life at home and a lover on the side. Everyone does it.
Of course, for Cons, due to their religious convictions, its the end of the world to admit to have sinned.
So it is a matter of convictions that causes a conservatist to repress their natural instincts and desires.
And this is another reason why I think religions should be done away with. IE will agree with me.
I am a proud bleeding liberal with no sceletons in the closet beside maybe one. Wink

We know that, according to US Constitution, there is a separation of Religion and State (thus , what one considers to be a "sin" is merely a subjective opinion resulting from one's own personal choice and religion. What really matters ,though, is whether such and such an act is Constitutionally Protected as an Individual Liberty, or whether it constitutes a Crime that must ultimately be prosecuted and punished for the sake of wellbeing of Society).

Thus, looking through precise and clear prism of US Constitution , our Governing and most ultimate Law, one can say:

If there is a Crime committed (such as rape, murder, pedophilia and etc.) then it most certainly must be prosecuted and punished to the fullest extent allowed under the law , for the good of all.

But if no Crime is committed ( such as when two consenting adults have s.ex, whether married or unmarried, same or different s.ex), then what business is it of ours to decide for others how they ought to live their personal lives or how they ought to put in service their genitalia or other parts of their individual body ?

Simple and clear as that.

Wink

Again, you are making generalizations again by referring to the Republican party as "Cons." Again, Democratic poitical leaders who also also had histories where they denied the charges or were convicted of a federal/state crime. But the problem is that both sides try to caracterize thei other party by using negative connotations to instill to the undecided voter as one who is not trustworthy or capricious. With President Clinton, it was not just Monica Lewinski, but alos another 20 or so women he had an affair, most of which was kept private until the presidential elections of 2000. But the other problem you have is that you do not understand how broad both the Democratic and Republican partty actually is. For social conservatives, the Republican party is more to their akin politically with certain social programs, namely the welfare, healthcare, and social security reforms on a general scale and include a great number of "Christian conservatives." Likewise, social conservatives may be more Democratic on foreign policy or energy policy. This is just one example how a political group can sway between Democrat or Republican depending on the issue, but then you have the die hard Republicans and Democrats who would vote for their party no matter what is said, done, proven, or exercised. Those voters represent the core of the party and not mainstream political voter public, who tend to be either a few clicks to the left or to the right. You have a lot to learn about American politics, IP and not be so general when describing a member of the opposite perty.

How come that in the context of your responce to iperson you all of a sudden conclude with the line that I (IE - who had nothing to do with the quote you were responding to) should learn about American Politics?

Here is what I actually wrote (feel free to respond):

Oh really now! Let's take a look back at what 4now posted on 10/2/2006:
"Hmmm
Perhaps Florida's Congressman Mark Foley was previously a priest.. Eek Background checks need to be done on all these guys. real ones.

Congressman need real background checks too.

hang and 2guns Pedolphile Congressman Big Grin"

AND

On 10/3/2006
"The additional kind of checks that Im talking about is questioning friends, neighbors co workers etc. the kind of check the FBI does when they come looking for you, whether it be tax evasion/returns not filed, or some other matter. USCIS used to investigate like this too.

Im sure plenty of people knew this guy was a little off colour but choose the course of if you dont ask, we wont tell. same with the priests. lots of you out there know people like this.... but you dont say anything.

am I right"

NOTE This has now become a political topic by simply posting the latest political news about an ex congressman who is alleged to have committed Congressional ethics violations. Your second statement reeks of politicalizing the topic further by simply not connecting, loosely or precisely, what this has to do with the OP's conspiracy theory of the Catholic Church before I even posted a reply to begin with.

Then your response dated 10/4/2006:
"Do you really believe that a pedophile that lurks after young boys and girls is a small matter in comparison to a president going thru middle age crisis getting his organ stroked by a promiscuous young woman? Come on now."
This statement ignores other affairs that President Clinton had including Jennifer Flowers and Dolly Kyle Browning, and others. The only confirmed *** affairs were acknowledged in President Clinton's book released in 2002 which included Monica Lewinski, Jennifer Flowers, and Elizabeth Gracen. Now, compare the Clinton affairs, most were through the poltiical offices while he was either governor or president and that of e-mails sent to the Congressional pages by ex-Rep Foley in 2000 only. Big difference between a sexual predator history of Clinton and the brief history by ex-rep Foley.

Finally, I respected the decision that ex-Rep made. That does not explicitly mean I admire the guy. But what is most unfortunate is that you cannot distinguish the difference. And from your posts that you so conveniently ignore, the thread becmae politicized the moment the OP author created the thread. You only exasperated your musings with this latest reply and thus you were the one whose was caught with their pants down.

What makes you think that a political debate only includes "Democrat vs Republican?" The original OP message was about a Vatican coverup of Priests, allegedly sexually assulting young boys. My direct question to you is why post specifically and commenting on an ex-rep admitting on national television that sexually explicit e-mails were sent to Congressional pages? At the time of the posting, the Foley affair was the hottest politcal topic. And by bringing in a political figure into the thread, you left an open-ended response to that posting. You thus began the political debate.
