Did you find out the length of time before the loan must be repaid? You may not have to worry about it for quite a while. American born students are so in debt with student loans that we never think of it as a scary process. Perhaps later you can time your classes to have maybe a month off to work 2 jobs and repay the loan. Also, speak to an advisor on campus to see if there are any school grants, essay contests or anything. Your story could make a good essay. Talk to your student government to see if they would be willing to hold a fundraiser/food drive, ect. to help pay for your tuition. Please be in contact, I would like to know how things work out for you, and let me know if I can help. -Golika

What about applying for loan like jc suggested in your other thread? I don't think you'll be eligible for a federal loan like stanford, but there're other independent loan that you can pursue. Consult your school financial services department to check it further.

I hope you've been going to a state school? Most people don't worry about paying off their student loans until they are out of school. At that time some of them can be consolidated which lowers the payments. Surely there is a way to continue to stay in status, that will only complicate things further. Are you going for four year degree? When completed is it something that will help you obtain a job at a decent salary? Are you being pressured to repay loans NOW?
