Hello,
I am a university-educated Canadian who is interested in working as a nanny for my 10 month old niece in Denver, Colorado. I have been in Denver for almost 6 months (as a visitor) but will be returning to Canada shortly.
I am interested in returning to Denver to work as a nanny for my brother's family (most likely for a period of one year). I understand I need to acquire the J-1 visa. What would be the cheapest way of doing this?

I would appreciate any help on this matter.

thank you!

what you really mean to say is you want to continue to work....26 is the age limit for au pairs, no matter if the family is related to you or not....

Go to the Dept. of State Website - they have Visa info there. Your brother will have to apply for you. There is no cheap way - you have to pay the visa fees if you fit into the guidelines.

Yes, I have looked at that website. Thank you for your information. My question was actually not very clear as I was referring to the fees that a nanny agency charges to the employer (in this case, my brother). Most of these fees were in the $2000 to $3000 range. I understand that one has to get the 'nanny' J-1 visa throgh an agency. Unfortunately I have also discovered that I am over the maximum age limit of 26 years so I do not qualify.
