I understand that short overseas business trips are allowed during an N-400 naturalization process (unlike during my Green Card application when I had to "apply for permission"; always granted). However, I do not want to jeopardizes my application by missing the fingerprint appointment, interviews etc. Please does anybody know how much advance notice the USCIS gives when sending out the notices of these appointments? Days? Weeks? Many thanks. William, San Antonio.

I was given a few weeks notice for my citizenship application. However, I would pay close attention to the number of business trips and days/weeks you spend outside of the US as this could affect your "continuous residency" reequirement

Thanks for the heads-up. I should be OK I think. I have had my permanent res. card since 1983. I spent much time overseas but last assignment I filed for preservation of residency and since then I have been back here for six years with only a couple of vacation trips. Thanks again.
