Does anyone know a reasonable honest lawyer? I'm serious
I am an american citizen without what I need to show as proof - by birth of my father - lived and paid taxes here all my life.
Not everybody makes lawyers salaries - do they know - we are just getting minimum rage raised to $7. something an hour - been $5.35 for years.

Try Catholic Social Services, immigration assistance/legal department in your area. They have a sliding scale.

Don't have personal experience with them myself, but others have recommended as a viable option....

I've call them - no luck -case too complicated-no one cares or knows. Guess I'll go ahead and have the dna tests done by a federal approved agency - as my Dad is getting up in age and see what our politicians are going to do. The dna tests are going to set me bak. Don't know what else to do - losing faith in our system. I've been trying to get this resolved for years now and told something different from the INS and passport people. One thing else my Dad never legaling marring my Mom does not look good with Catholic. I'm being purnished for my father's mistakes.

I misunderstood, you have already tried CSS, or you will try?

If you have already tried, what was your experience, which office did you work with?

Asking for honesty is difficult when you refuse to accept the truth. You are not an American citizen. Thats the honest truth, Sure we can find a lawyer to take your money, but any honest one will tell you something you won't accept.

How many hours did he charge you? All I need is for someone to tell me what documents I need to prove - I was citizen at birth. My birth certificate and affidates by my father - did not give them enough proof. And what forms I need to file.

Perhaps we need to rewind the tape a bit. If you have a birth cert, who is calling into question your citizenship, why? That is all most of us have to prove it. Why do you need more? There are a lot of smart people here who can probably help. Will need some background though

You just don't understand; you are NOT a US Citizen. God you are dumb. No wonder you only make minimum wage (illegals make 50-100K). It doesnt matter if you came as an infant or if your father is a USC. You are not. No lawyer, no amount of money will ever change that. What is it you don't understand?

You - and how any woman - could even be around you. I pay for my daughter's college - I do not make minimum wage. Thank God - she's being educated on making this world a better place to live. As every human being is no better than the other.

SonofM She didn't say she made minimum wage, just that it was raised to 7.00 an hour.

Anyhow, I took a look at the prior posting. Mike is correct. At this point your not a citizen. I did read one posting that said if your parent was here for x number of years between 1952 and 86 you fall under those rules. That would probably be the easiest avenue to take. As far as documents to provide. How about your own school records. Where you attended, transcripts, etc. You also have a child. Any marriage papers etc. from that. Anything and everything that shows you were here for the last 45 years.

It may very well come down to getting that DNA test done. They aren't too expensive. I had one done for my son, his girlfriend and their daughter, alleged daughter at the time. It was a couple hundred. You can find agencies on the internet to do this.

It does fall under the jurisdiction of USCIS not the passport office as far saying you are or are not a citizen. Do what they say.

The burden of proof does rest with you. That is why you want to be able to provide as much supporting evidence as possible. May sound silly, but remember. They don't know you at all. You just need to show them who you are.

Thanks for taking a look - I already have my grammer school notorized I was in school then. But it comes back to just proving that my dad is my father and that is support and acknowledge me as his child. So if DNA tests and school papers doesn't give them enough proof - nothing will. I can get notizarized affidates from people who have known me all my life. If you think that will help. I also have my Dad listed on my batistism record. Thanks for your response - You seemed to be a good man. God Bless The World and all it's people!!!

The DNA should be proof enough of your relationship to your father. The rest of it will show youv'e been living here as an American. Good luck Smile
