hello, thanks to the people who spend sometime to advise others.most of the time people get stranded because they dont know where to start from.ohh this board saved me the automated answer machines.
my question is about H1B visa,I graduated in march, in a 3 year program in television production in africa, right now am studying in canada in the industry.an american attorney wants $600 only to check if Iwould qualify? this is so expensive for just checking after which to say yes or no and thats is it.
YOU yourself don't "get" an H1-B visa--a company does. They sponsor a prospective employee. The usual qualifications are at least a (4-year) bachelor's degree or the equivalent in work experience, usually in so-called shortage occupations. Your first step, then, would be to find a company that is willing and able to sponsor you, which may be tough--visas for this fiscal year, Oct. 1, 2004 through Sept. 30, 2005, are 2/3 gone (unless you're a foreign graduate student at a U.S. college who's completing your degree this year).
