Actually Brit, it could go as high as 50% if eggs, milk, meat, and a few other essential items were exempt from the tax. I do not believe a pure flat tax nor a national sales tax nor an ad valorem tax is the proper tax system. I much prefer limiting both discretionary and non discretionary spending that would help the current tax system rather than revamping the tax system altogether. It would be too costly.
