LEI'D BACK: Barack Obama selects a couple of clubs as he arrives at a Kailua, Hawaii, golf course yesterday with Eugene Kang, a member of his staff.

KAILUA, Hawaii - The Obama family, on vacation in Barack Obama's native Hawaii, is staying in a $9 million single-story oceanfront home in a pricey but laid-back neighborhood over the mountain from downtown Honolulu, where the president-elect grew up.

The five-bedroom, wood-frame house sits on almost an acre of land fronting Kailua Beach, a favorite spot for windsurfers, kayakers and dogwalkers.

The white sand in front of the house is public land, just like all beaches under state law. The Obamas may see neighbors out for a walk or jog.

Martha Burke, who has lived several houses down from the property since 1972, said she is thrilled and honored to have Obama nearby.

"I'm sure he wants a lot of privacy, so I hope we can restrain ourselves from waving at him. But I doubt it," Burke said, laughing.

Don Dymond, owner of Kalapawai Cafe and Kalapawai Market, said it is particularly thrilling because Obama "knows enough about the state and the island that he would know if there's a better spot."

He added, "The community is lucky that he picked here. And hopefully over the next eight years, he'll pick here some more."

Obama's vacation home sits on a dead-end road with few other homes. It was built in 1934 and renovated in 2005.

Photographs from a 2007 real-estate listing show a stone-encircled swimming pool and an open-air sitting room with views of a grassy lawn and the ocean. City tax records show a Houston man bought the property in January for $9 million.

The home is listed on a vacation-rental directory, www.hawaiisbestrentals.com.

It is among the most expensive on a block where shoreline lots go for a minimum of $3 million and nonbeachfront properties easily top $1 million.

The figures outstrip the median single-family home price on Oahu, which stood at $594,500 in November.

Obama likes to party; especially when taxpayers are paying !

Obama election night party cost Chicago $1.74 million
Meanwhile, there is another news in Chicago...

The Barack Obama campaign was about breaking precedents. Some Obama events, such as his Berlin speech, his Democratic National Convention acceptance address, and his Chicago election night party, just had to be otherworldly affairs.

And when you go outside the box, sometimes it gets expensive, as the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Before Obamapolooza commenced in Grant Park, Mayor Richard M. Daley predicted it would cost Chicago $2 million. His estimate was pretty close, it ended up costing the city $1.74 million.

More than $1 million was spent on police protection alone.

Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt had no immediate comment on the city's itemized bill. Instead, he referred questions to the Democratic National Committee.

"It was a DNC-sponsored event. We're discussing it with the city," said party spokeswoman Stacie Paxton.

Like most big cities, Chicago is experiencing a financial crush. The Obama campaign could have held this event, as John McCain did, in a hotel ballroom, but the Cult of Change just had to be different.

Hey DNC: How 'bout writing a check to the City of Chicago for $1.74 million?

Barack Obama and his team smashed all fundraising records on the way to victory, raking in a staggering $668 million. But some of that all-important cash came from questionable — even make-believe — sources.

An intensive Newsmax investigation by investigative reporter Kenneth Timmerman — cited in a complaint by the Republican National Committee — uncovered numerous instances of questionable and even illegal donations.

The Newsmax special report uncovered evidence that that Obama campaign raked in millions by allowing donors to exceed legal limits. Millions more flowed into his coffers from unidentifiable sources, including prohibited financial support from foreign nationals.

And, astoundingly, nearly half of his total campaign contributions, over $300 million, came from donors under $200 — donor names Obama still won't release for public scrutiny.

Newsmax magazine's special report "Funny Money: How Barack Obama Bought the White House for $668 Million" offers an in-depth look at the questions surrounding the fundraising efforts that have forever changed American politics.

Obama Interviewed In Blagojevich Probe
President-elect, two aides quizzed last week by federal prosecutors
DECEMBER 23--President-elect Barack Obama and two of his top advisers were interviewed last week by federal prosecutors probing Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich's alleged bid to sell Obama's vacated Senate seat, according to a report issued today by an Obama lawyer. The lawyer, Gregory Craig, concluded that Obama and his aides engaged in no improper conduct in connection with the Senate opening. A copy of the Craig report can be found below. As part of his review of transition team "contacts" with Blagojevich, Craig reported that only incoming White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel had spoke with the Illinois pol. Emanuel, Craig disclosed, had "one or two telephone calls" with Blagojevich in early-November. Emanuel reportedly gave Blagojevich a "heads up" that he was accepting Obama's offer of the chief of staff job (and, as a result, would be resigning his congressional seat). Emanuel also "had a brief discussion with the Governor about the Senate seat and the merits of various people whom the Governor might consider." Craig also noted that Emanuel had "about four telephone conversations with John Harris, Chief of Staff to the Governor, on the subject of the Senate seat. In these conversations, Mr. Emanuel and Mr. Harris discussed the merits of potential candidates and the strategic benefit that each candidate would bring to the Senate seat." In addition to the president-elect, Emanuel and Valerie Jarrett, an Obama confidante, were interviewed in the past few days by investigators with the U.S. Attorney's Office in Chicago, which, on December 9, announced criminal charges against Blagojevich and Harris.

I know there was alot of passion involved in this election, but I think the very best thing to do is accept the outcome and move on. We are a great nation. I think we should come together to support the new president, regardless how we voted. We might not all agree on politics, but we should all agree to hold together as a nation. After all, it's four years. Alot could happen, good or bad. Let go of the negative and let's think positive!!!!

The FUSA WAS a great nation before Bush-Obama bought and destroyed it. I'm going to fight for my cause every day. I'm going to fight to make sure every American has every reason to thank God, as I thank him, that I'm an American, a proud citizen of the greatest country on Earth. And with hard work, strong faith, and a little courage, great things are always within our reach. Fight with me. Fight with me. Fight for what's right for our country. Fight for the ideals and character of a free people. Fight for our children's future. Fight for justice and opportunity for all. Stand up to defend our country from its enemies. Stand up for each
other, for beautiful, blessed, bountiful America. Stand up, stand up, stand up, and fight. Nothing is inevitable here. We're Americans, and we never give up. We never quit.
We never hide from history. We make history. Obama did not win this election, Obama bought it. He is NOT my President ! He is a traitor and a criminal. I will destroy him and all enemies of America ! Thank you, and God bless you, and God bless America.

Feds may mine blogs for terrorism clues Researchers see rise in Web's use to plan attacks
By Thomas Frank
USA TODAY

WASHINGTON — The Homeland Security Department may soon start scouring the Internet to find blogs and message boards that terrorists use to plan attacks in the USA.

The effort comes as researchers are seeing terrorists increasingly use the Internet to plan bombings, recruit members and spread propaganda. "Blogging and message boards have played a substantial role in allowing communication among those who would do the United States harm," the department said in a recent notice.

Obama is gonna use a BIBLE to swear on at his Inaugural Ceremony. So all of you out who still believe he's a Muslim, once and for all...he's NOT! Roll Eyes

Obama chooses Lincoln's Bible for swearing in ceremony
By Ken Dilanian, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON — President-elect Barack Obama plans to take the oath of office with his right hand on the same Bible used to swear in Abraham Lincoln, the Presidential Inaugural Committee announced Tuesday.

Obama, who like Lincoln won the presidency after a stint as a state lawmaker and then a member of Congress from Illinois, has sometimes compared himself to the 16th president. He invoked Lincoln by announcing his presidential candidacy from the Old State Capitol in Springfield, Ill., as Lincoln did. And, like Lincoln, he plans to travel to his inauguration in Washington by train.

Obama has the distinction of being investigated for wrongdoing the earliest of any President in history; even before he is sworn in ! This person MUST be stopped !!

Obama Investigated By FBI

"Every president for more than three decades has had to talk with federal prosecutors at one time or another. President-elect Barack Obama may have set a land speed record by giving his first interview to investigators even before taking the oath of office."

Blagojevich Impeachment Panel Investigating Obama's Aides Split on Subpoena for Obama Aides
By Joe Carroll

Dec. 26 (Bloomberg) -- An Illinois panel considering the impeachment of Governor Rod Blagojevich is divided over whether to subpoena aides of President-elect Barack Obama and a U.S. congressman.

The committee is looking into the Democratic governor’s alleged attempt to auction Obama’s vacant U.S. Senate seat.

Blagojevich’s attorney, Edward Genson, today sent the 21- member impeachment committee a list of witnesses he wants summoned to testify before the panel next week. The list includes Obama’s chief of staff appointee Rahm Emanuel and adviser Valerie Jarrett, both of whom were interviewed last week by federal prosecutors in a corruption probe of the governor’s office.

Republican members of the impeachment panel want Democratic Chairwoman Barbara Flynn Currie to grant Genson’s request to subpoena Emanuel, Jarrett and U.S. Representative Jesse Jackson Jr., a Chicago Democrat and aspirant to Obama’s former Senate post.

Currie, the sole member of the panel with the authority to issue subpoenas, didn’t return phone messages seeking comment. Last week, she indicated she doesn’t plan to seek testimony from anyone involved in the U.S. attorney’s criminal investigation.

Republicans can’t force Currie to issue subpoenas because Democrats control a 12-9 majority on the panel, state Representative Roger Eddy said.

“I think we should subpoena these people, but there is no way in the world the Democrats are going to allow them to be questioned,” Eddy, one of nine Republicans on the panel, said today in a telephone interview.

Genson, who is representing Blagojevich in both the criminal case and the impeachment process, didn’t return phone messages left at his office at Genson and Gillespie.

Genson Request

“At present, the Genson request is under review,” Steve Brown, an aide to Democratic Illinois House of Representatives Speaker Michael Madigan, said today in an e-mailed message. “No additional information or comment is planned at this time.”

Blagojevich, 52, was arrested Dec. 9 at his home in Chicago’s Ravenswood Manor neighborhood after federal agents accused him of trying to sell Obama’s vacant Senate seat for as much as $1.5 million, an ambassadorship, a position in Obama’s Cabinet or a lucrative job running a non-profit group.

The federal inquiry was expanded this week to include his decision to shut a state-run maximum-security prison. FBI agents and investigators from U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald’s office interviewed Illinois State Senator Dan Rutherford, whose district includes the Pontiac Correctional Center, about the circumstances surrounding Blagojevich’s announcement in May that the facility would close, Rutherford said on Dec. 24.

Transition Team Report

Obama’s transition team released a report on Dec. 24 that it said cleared Emanuel, Jarrett and the president-elect of any “inappropriate” talks with Blagojevich about who would be named to the vacant Senate post.

Emanuel had one or two conversations with the governor in early November about potential Senate appointees, and “about four” discussions on the same topic later in the month with Blagojevich’s then-Chief of Staff John Harris, the transition team’s report said. Harris was arrested the same day as Blagojevich and resigned his post three days later.

Jarrett, who was initially interested in succeeding Obama in the Senate before the president-elect asked her to take a White House job, never discussed the Senate appointment with the governor, the report said.

Jarrett considered Blagojevich’s desire to be named U.S. secretary of health and human services “ridiculous” when it was relayed to her by an Illinois union official, the report said.

‘No Deals’

Jackson, a son of civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, held a press conference the day after the governor’s arrest to say he made no deals with Blagojevich to secure the Senate appointment. At a Dec. 8 meeting with the governor, Jackson said he presented his record, qualifications and vision for becoming a U.S. senator.

The impeachment committee was created on Dec. 15 after Madigan said the governor had been given ample opportunity to resign. Currie, whose district includes the state senate constituency once represented by Obama, is the second-most powerful Democrat in the Illinois House, behind Madigan.

The committee’s next hearing is scheduled for Dec. 29 in the state capital, Springfield. Blagojevich would be the first governor impeached in the state’s 190-year history.

‘Lynch Mob’

On Dec. 19, the governor held a meeting with reporters in Chicago where he said he was innocent of the criminal charges and characterized the impeachment proceedings as “a political lynch mob.”

Eddy said Emanuel, Jarrett and Jackson should be called to testify unless Fitzgerald indicates that would impede his criminal investigation. On Dec. 23, Fitzgerald rejected the panel’s request for access to affidavits, wiretap applications, fundraising lists and names of anonymous witnesses mentioned in the 78-page criminal complaint against Blagojevich.

“I think it’d be nice to hear from them,” state Representative Mike Bost, a Republican member of the committee, said today. “It’s Barbara’s call, so we’ll see what call she makes.”
