Ok, I'm 4 weeks away from my prioty date 60-999 days. I applied through my mother as an unmarried child over 21, she is a USC. So my question is: is what happens when my 999 days are up? Do I contact a lawyer? Do I contact immigration? Do I contact my local congress person? Or, just sit and wait? I've been waiting nearly 3 years ughhhh! Can anyone shed any light on what my next move should be?

Thanks

Hi there, are you 4 weeks from the visa bulletin date for your catagory? The date for this month is December 22, 2000. This is the only date that truly matters anymore. They will not process any applications that are pending unless a visa number is soon to become available. This is all in an effort to reduce the backlog of services. Also the 60 - 999 days quoted to you is actual working days (251 per year) so 999 divided by 251 is 3.98 calender years. In other words hang in there and wait until the 4 years has passed then contact your congress man.

Number of days listed on your receipt notice is irrelevant. What matters is your priority date in relation to the dates published monthly in Visa Bulletin. So keep on checking http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_2007.html and wait.
