After a long agonizing pain and a long waiting period my Employment based i485 was approved. I checked the online BCIS status and here is what it read:
Current Status: This case has been approved. On June 18, 2003, an approval notice was mailed. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please speak to an Immigration Information Officer during business hours.
Those are the most beautiful words I have read in the last 2 years.
Good luck to everyone

Roberto, My notice date was 10/17/2001. Yes the CSC has been very slow in approving cases. i don't know why it has to take that long. but once you get it, you feel all the weight and worries lift off you chest.
best of luck to you.

Finally_Free, Do you know if you are abligated to stay at that job for some time? Can you immediately change jobs, now that your I485 has been approved? Also, I was supprised to see your PD is 10/16/01, because all the reports say they are working in cases from 11-16-10 and more recent. Anyway, I totally can relate with your feelings now... Thank you for sharing this and for showind there is light at the end of the tunnel. once again, congratulations!

Roberto,
If your I485 has been in process for more then 6 months you can leave your company even before you get your GC. That as long as your new JOB is simular to the one you had when you applied for your GC. That is actually what I did. Just recently I left my company and joined another with the same line of work.
My lawyer recommends that i stay with this company for another 6months to 1 year before i leave and try somthing new.
Regarding the processing dates.. they are not taht accurate. they have been saying that they are processing cases up to 11/16/01 for almost 6 months but never go to my case until yesterday.
i hope this answers you questions.

ATTENTION !! My I-485 was approved on May 7 this year and I read the same message you did FINALLY_FREE.
But, I still did not get the paper(official notice of approval) saying that by mail. 43 days have passed since the approval day and I phoned BCIS office four times already. Nothing happend !
Let me know when(if)you receive your notice.
