I'm married to a USC and was planning on applying for citizenship in the next few months.
I was arrested last week for DUI in New Jersey (where it's not considered a criminal offence believe it or not) last week. I also received a speeding ticket. It was a first offence and my criminal lawyer expects me to receive the minimum sentence - 6 month ban and a fine. No jail time.
Obviously I will make sure that I tell INS about this at the interview and on the application forms, however I am wondering if anyone has either been recently approved or denied in this sort of situation.
The Ilw.com lawyers seem to have been asked this question several times during online chats and all say that as long as it's a simple DUI then you're OK. Worst possible case appears to be a five year delay.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

For speeding ticket, you won't have any problems at all, but for DUI, you will really need to ask a lawyer since the INS do charge for that depending on how bad was the situation. Try to consult with an attorney, and make sure you apply under a lawyer.
