Can someone please give me any advice what to do?
I came on J-1 visa [as an aupair] on January 2003 I found sponsor and applied for F-1 visa few weeks before my J1 expired [February 2004] My school sent my papers to Immigration office late. Imm. questioned my late request and also why my sponsor wants to sponsor me. I sent them explanation but they sent me denial notice [September 2004]. In that time I was out of status for 6 months. I talked to lawyer and she told me I have no other legal chance to stay in the US and told me to go back home to my country.
I decided to stay here without any hope to become legal. I know one way is to get married, but I would like to get married for reasons that marriage is made for.
I found this web side suprised to hear about illegal people live here, work here. Is there any hope for me to make my life to be without fear that I'm gonna be found sometime? I also heard about paying taxes... Should I pay taxes? I'm currently working as nanny and planning to find another job... and place to live. I've been driving with international driver's licence and it expires in august this year. I use car of family I'm working for. Can I buy car? Is it possible to live kinda "normal" life if I am illegal person?
Thank you for your time.

illegal most often refers to EWI (entered without inspection) which basically means sneaking across the border. the CIS already knows about your presence and might catch up with you sooner or later and put you into deportation proceedings if you just stay here. you might also be lucky, but consider the risks with laws getting tighter and tigher.
someone that is EWI also runs that risk, even though it might be less severe, however, an EWI can't adjust status (only marriage based with leaving US and filing waiver etc, which results in separation of spouses for prolonged period of time)
as and illegal or illegal oversaty you will also lead a pretty restricted life and won't be able to do many things like other people. so unless you have a person that you can see yourself marrying (for the right reasons) in the near future (in which case you will be able to adjust status) you should definitely consider going back to your home-country. is it that bad over there that it would be worth the risks and hassles involved, always paranoid that the CIS might be knocking at your door?

Daniela, as silviaka wrote, USCIS already knows you're here and out of status so if you are stopped for anything... even a minor traffic violation, it is possible they will be notified. Also, if you got your denial in September 2004, you are fast approaching the 180-day point of your overstay. This means that if you are caught AFTER that, you will be deported and face a 3- or 10-year ban on returning to the US for any reason. Get in touch with an attorney to see if you qualify to appeal the denial, and if not you must leave or risk the consequences I already mentioned. Getting married now will look suspicious to USCIS, and you might end up married to someone for wrong reasons AND deported... not a good situation. Good luck.

It sounds like you are out of status for almost a year or even more than a year. If you leave the US, you'll be banned from entry for 3 or (more likely) 10 years. Your only opportunity to stay here is to marry USC.

Could you explain why you lied to our embassy when you got your au pair visa? You told them you were coming back to [country], right?
And now that you have decided to disobey or ignore our regulations, you want, what? For somebody to jump over walls to give you something you do not deserve? What country are you from that has such beliefs?
Why can't you abide by the terms of the visa privilege that was given to you? What makes you such a special "illegal alien" visa cheat?

Daniela, as a former holder of J-1, are you subject to 2 year home residence requirement? If so, even marriage to USC may not solve your problems, unless you obtain a waiver (which is very hard to do).
