Can anyone explain the process of security clearance to me?
Had AOS interview end of march 2004. Was fingerprinted again at that time. Was told that they were waiting for security clearance before before stamping passport. How long is this suppose to take? Is there a number I can call to check on the status of my case?
I see a lot of posts regarding this matter. A lot of people find themselves frustrated with having to waiting and having no information whatsoever on what's going on.
I'm repeating my question in hope that someone could give some insight to everyone in this situation. If we could at least understand the process we could figure out what is wrong with the system and perhaps do something about it or at the very least knowing why, how and when would give some satisfaction in what to expect. What is the process of security clearance? Who is BCIS waiting for? Why is it taking so long? Why isn't there a time frame?
Dear Cafrine, I am in a similar situation, after a waiting period of 90 days, I would advise you to contact your congressman, at least that way you will know what is going on. In my case I have not been waiting for 90 days yet, but as soon as I will reach that dealine I will contact my congressman to have an idea about what exactly is waited upon. Because I believe that there is a difference when you wait knowing exactly what you are waitng for as oppose to wait with no specific reason.
Cafrine, I contacted my Congressman, it helped me find out that USCIS had misplaced my fingerprints. waited another 3 months, nothing came forward, wrote a certified letter to FBI in order to inquire about name check status, received a shocking response from FBI stating that "too date USCIS had not requested a name check for me" Back to square one.....fowarded the FBI letter to congressman for action, and still waiting.
I've sent lots of emails to FBI with no reply. Would you mind giving me the address and contact person info at FBI office so I can follow up with them too? Thank you
