chichi, you can find processing times for Nebraska service center at www.uscis.gov. Now, those times usually indicate the slowest case they have in processing. Therefore, take their timeframe subtract amount of luck you have in your life and you'll get approximate date for your interview. Good luck.

you said substract amount of luck..if i do that, i will not become citizen at all. I am one of those unlucky people who always get trapped in system one or the other way.
Thanks for your reply though and also for the good luck wish. I really appreciate it.

You hang in there, chichi! I did not expect to get the interview notice this soon. It looks like INS is working faster nowadays. I've heard from many people that they got their citizenship in less than a year after applying. Hope it helps. Best regards.

Thanks Dastur for your response.
I was reading the message board and website.
It's kind of unusual that i passed my interview and exam.Have to wait more than 8 months already
no oath date.
Usually i read after interview and exam 2-4 months they get there Oath taking date.
I filed my N400 Jan 2005,fungerprint feb 2005.
I inquired about it at DO said Current status under review?
What is taking them so long? Are they still reviewing my application?
Please Help.
Thanks,manay

ILW.COM Homepage discuss.ilw.com discuss.ilw.com Immigration Discussion N400 NOA[/quote]
NO LUCK YET.
I don't understand one thing, how come people who applied two-three months after me, live in same area and applied at same office got their interview scheduled already and mine is not ?
I asked Cust. Service and they told me something like this.
Each month they start processing new month. By the end of the month if the processing month is not finished, rest of the files are put in backlog queue and in new month they start processing next month to keep their process moving. If this is true, isn't it wrong ? It should be like First IN- First OUT basis. Atleast that is what i think. Otherwise, the person who applied 2.5 months after me, in no way would receive his interview appointment letter.

Any advice on this please....thanks..Chichi

Hey, guys!
It's been long time since my last post. I had my naturalization interview in February '06, passed it, but officer told that decision can not be made at this time, because FBI have not finished the name check and I should recieve a notice for Oath ceremony within 3 months. Time passed, but there is no news from INS. I have scheduled an Info pass appointment for tomorrow to clarify the problem. Will give you some more news after the appointment. Meanwhile, can somebidy with similar experince, especially from Florida or people that filed N400 thru TSC post their timelines? Here are my dates:

June 1, 05 - sent N400 to USCIS TSC
June 22, 05 - NOA is received in the mail
June 28, 05 - received a notice for fingerprints appointment
July 23, 05 - fingerprints are taken
October 26, 05 - received a notice for Naturalization interview
February 9, 06 - Naturalization interview passed.

Best regards to all and thank you in advance.

Are there any recent N400 applicants who files in the past year or so with some similar experience? How long does it usually take to get a letter for the Oath ceremony after citizenship exam is passed? Thank you in advance.

We are in the same situation. My wife went in for the interview in March or so. Even though they told her she passed, they still mark the check box that says "can not make a determination at this point...etc" because they say FBI needs to do a background check first. They couldn't give us any date on that at all, and said it could take a month to a year. So far it's been 3 months and we haven't heard back at all. I guess we'll continue to wait then...

Lame...

Please let us know when you hear back so we know at least someone is processing all those stuff...

Hi, edgrapes,
Any news yet ??

I got my interview on April 12th and oath letter on 13th may for oath ceremony on May 19th. Finally, I am citizen. Got my passport already and upgraded my I-130 for my wife. She is been waiting since last 2 years. Hopefully, I will have my wife with me soon.

Thanks to all of you and keep up the good work.
Wish you good luck.
Anyway, I asked one of the officer at oath about time it takes, and they told me that most of the cases are already gathered for oath ceremony and they are just probably waiting for some more so that they don't have to do that again very often. This is just to reduce their cost of arranging the oath ceremony.

Wow, it feels so good to be a citizen..

Good luck guys...keep us posted here..

upa, thank you for your news as well. I will definately keep you posted as soon as I have some meaningful information to share. Do not hesitate to post here any developments in your case.

Hi, all!

I remember reading some posts from people that wrote letters to senators asking to speed up their cases. Can not find any meaningful info or a link. Can anybody tell me if it's worth doing and advise what exactly should be in such letter?

Thank you in advance.

Hi, Edgrapes,

Google will guide you to the Senator's home page where you will find link to the immigration petition matters link and will ask you to provide detailed information about the case. They will then contact you that they have issued an inquiry about it. I don't know if it helps because once the inquiry is sent, it is treated as the same as you call USCIS Customer Service number and issue the inquiry. I suggest you call USCIS and issue the inquiry with the "Out of Normal Processing Time" tag. That will force them to write a letter to you with 60 days time or 90 days time and they have to give you either a decision or request for more evidence or something during that period.
I hope this helps.
Chris

If during your interview they said congratulations you passed the interview and I will recommend your application for citizenship approval, you should not be worried about. Since September 11, they all say the same things to everybody. If at all, your application had problem, they would say about pending security check, name check etc..What they said once the interview was cleared ?

Thanks,
Chichi

chichi, Adam!

On my interview officer has marked the box saying "You passed the tests of English and U.S. history and goverment" and another box saying "decision cannot be made about your application". When I asked what the reason is for such action, he said that background check was not complete by FBI and INS has to wait until it's done. It's been over 4 months now after the interview. I will post more info as soon as I get something.

More info on my case. On Friday, last week I wrote a letter to the local congressman's office and asked them to contact USCIS regarding my naturalization case. Will let you know as soon as I get some info from either place.

Just want to give you an update. We have received the oath ceremony letter recently, so looks like they are processing those background checks, just takes time. Smile
