Thanks all, for your responses. I just got my fingerprints taken. Can somebody tell me what is coming after this and how long it usually takes? Best regards and good luck to all.
My time lines:
June 1, 05 - sent N400 to USCIS TSC June 3, 05 - USCIS states that they received it June 9, 05 - check with application fee is cashed June 14, 05 - NOA is issued June 22, 05 - NOA is received in the mail June 23, 05 - notice for fingerprints appointment is issued June 28, 05 - received a notice for fingerprints appointment July 23, 05 - fingerprints are taken.
Sorry for the delay. My N-400 application fell under the El Paso D.O.
edgrapes,
Your application is moving quite fast. After fingerprints are submitted, you should get letter for naturalization interview in about a month. That's how long mine took. Good luck!
Hi! You all seem so knowledgeable that I thought I would register and ask my questions.
I have been in the states for 14 years. I finally applied for my citizenship based on my time here (12 with greencard) and not on my 8 yr marriage to my US hubby. The other 5 states we lived in always had outrageous wait times so I held off knowing that we move every year or two.
Nebraska received my application July 18th, cashed our check on the 21st and today the 26th of July I received my Receipt Notice.
On the Receipt Notice it states that the processing time is 365 days and that within this time I will receive notice of my interview. Nothing is said about fingerprints. I have fingerprints on file from the green card and because my husband holds a clearance I have had them taken periodically when investigated for the background. Does EVERYONE'S say this or is mine different?
I am asking because of the fact that the local office is 8 HOURS away and is the ONLY office in the state so this is a lot of driving especially dangerous driving once the snow starts falling. Local office states they are currently processing Jan 1 of 2005. It would be nice if I could skip the fingerprinting or do it the same day with having to drive so far especially with 3 children!
Which time line do I use? Does it take a year to process at Nebraska USCIS and then another 4 to 6 months at my local office?
Not you should skip the fingerprinting USCIS should do that since the background checks go's on for you every year. I don't think the fingerprints changes. 365 days are not that bad some are waiting for more then year.
Thank you. I knew there was no bad thing coming from adam… I was just practicing my skills … by the way seriously I did the course for teacher of Russian language as foreigner and translator while I was there…
Hi Dastur… I haven’t heard anything from them… I haven’t even received 10 yrs plastic GC… but I m not in any hurry… whenever it comes its okay with me… I will update u guys if I hear anything from them…have a great day…Pasha

OCT 2004 fingertips taken (Notice: waiting time 755-999 days) !!
I was checking on USCIS web on Aug.14 and it said they are now processing documents received in Dec. 2003 WOW! still another 9 months or more of wait for me.
I did checked their web again today on Aug. 22 and it said they are processing from Feb. 2004 WOW! Picked up the speed so maybe "only" 7 more months?
And just today:
AUG. 22.2005 I received the letter for interview on SEPT. 29.2005 )
WOW !!!! I'M REALLY REALLY SURPRISED
I don't know how much longer it will take after the interview, but for the first time I have a good feeling it might be this year
Anyway: from the day of receiving my application to the day of an interview ("Initial Interview") it took exactly 1 year 22 days
Orlando, Fl
GOOD LUCK TO ALL !!! And GOD BLESS AMERICA !!! I MEAN IT XOXOXXO
lugare: My friend had file his N-400 in April 2005 after completing his five years in the United States. Though he could have done that 90 days before his five years stay he just want to make sure that all go's straight forward, and that's what happened. When he checked at Orlando site they don't have information about N-400. ARE YOU ALSO FROM ORLANDO? I am trying to find out all information for him, they are Indian and good people. We check with TSC, How do you check into Orlando will you please let me know. I GOT IN TO THE ORLANDO SITE THEY ARE STILL SAYING 750-999 days for this type of case. N-400 AT ORLANDO IS FEB> 2004, THATS GOOD NEWS

dastur: Yes, Im from Orlando. I did apply on the immigration web side (electronically), then received appointment for fingerprints ( office on Semoran )and now after 1 year and 20 days appointment for interview ( ofice by the airport).
Can you tell me if the status of your case online have changed after (or before) you have received the letter for interview? Also, did USCIS ever sent you any aknowledgment after your fingerprints were taken? I had my fingerprints taken in July, but my status still says the same: "It is taking between 750 and 999 days for us to process this kind of case ... "
I checked with Orlando Office few days back and they are on Feb. 2004. I am not sure how long it will take for the guys who had file N-400 in Jan.2005, I think electronically is faster then mailing hard copy via postal system.
Just to update: My friend had received his I-797C, Notice of Action dated: August 23, 2005 today August 29, 2005 @ 3.00pm for his fingerprints, appointment for Sept.8, 2005 at 3.00pm.
His wife received her I-797C, dated;August 23, 2005 today Aug.29, 2005 @ 3.00pm for her fingerprints appointment for Sept. 9, 2005 at 9.00am. Both of them had file the N-400 same date and day in one Envelop and mail to USCIS at Texas Service Center. Why they have given the separate dates for fingerprints.(husband and Wife) any info will be appreciated
Now they will have to take two days off from work to get this fingerprints. Any comments, if they can talk to the Officer when they go for husbands fingerprints. at Orlando.
Lugare, is this the same office located near Orlando Airport.

I just want to share my good news with everyone that is waiting for N400 interview. I have just received a appointment for Naturalization interview. This is my timelines: June 1, 05 - sent N400 to USCIS TSC June 3, 05 - USCIS states that they received it June 9, 05 - check with application fee is cashed June 14, 05 - NOA is issued with June 7 as received date June 22, 05 - NOA is received in the mail June 23, 05 - notice for fingerprints appointment is issued June 28, 05 - received a notice for fingerprints appointment July 23, 05 - fingerprints are taken October 18, 05 - online Last Update date changed to October 18, 05 October 26, 05 - received a notice for Naturalization interview for February 09, 06 (Notice date is October 18, 05).
I hope this info helps to estimate your waiting time. Best of luck to everyone and I will keep you posted if more information comes my way.
edgrapes: Your N-400 was transfered to Miami Office during June 14, 05. On July 23, 05 you were fingerprinted and this letter arrived from Miami Office, and since you are in Miami which is Dist. Office and others like Tempa and Orlando are suboffice what's why it might be taking longer time for applicants from Tampa and Orlando. So far my friend still has 500 to 550 days wait when we checked on uscis web page. Good luck
