my parents are sponsored by my father's workplace for about 8 years now. attorney said it looks the case will be finalized before the year's end. all of a sudden he excludes my brother from the case stating he is no longer a child (he's 22 now) but when they applied he was only 14. attorney states he can't include him anymore but doesn't say why. is there a new law all of a sudden? what can be done?
appreciate all helpful information.

If the child turns 21 before the adjustment application is approved they age out and no longer qualify.

ok, then why would the attorney for so many years lead them to believe that if filed before he's 21 he still would be included?
and last year they were offered to go for some kind of "slower" version because of my brother being included in this case.

Here's a web site with information about the Child Status Protection Act. There is even a formula you can use to see what the situation is.

It depends on when the petition was approved etc.
