On the application to get TPS, she said that she came across the border from Mexico into Texas. In U.S. eyes, she is a TPS from Nicaragua that entered through the border and was never inspected.
She still has her Nicaraguan passport, although it expired. She does NOT have her costa rican passport anymore. So my question to you is once we get married, is she eligible to become a resident and also a citizen ?

Again, not enough details. Quite probably, she may be a dual citizen of Nicaragua and Costa Rica. At least that will explain the two passports, but need confirmation from the OP. Second, we don't know how the father is involved with the Nicaraguan situation. If he qualified, so would she. Again, no details ton confirm nor deny. Third, no time line when TPS and entry into the US. And finally, the details of the TPS application itself. Yes, we do know she "lied" about entering in the US on the TPS application. But you honestly think that if she told the "truth" and she was eligible for TPS, that she would have been approved? No. Or do you honestly think that if she stayed in que that she would be approved for political asylum? No! That is the rub of TPS, one is "forced to lie" in order to get approved. It is why most humanitarian agencies do not like TPS for anyone.

Suggestion: Could I ask if the Pm messagae indicator be more visible to see.. like maybe solid red and flashing or something like that. I miss it a lot of times and new posters have a hard time finding it they tell me.

As for the OP, he left because certain members, not to be named, made the first remark that came: immigrant "lied." Ergo, should not even be given a stick of gum, etc, etc, etc, etc. Same ole story, History has not changed nor have people learned from the past.

On BabyBeh, we did ban this person, and I was in the process of reconsidering the ban (and hoping that, if restored, the person would refrain from foul language in the future). Unfortunately, this person re-registered in two names - jackmeoff and jackmeoffnow. For obvious reasons, we were forced to ban these IDs also. I cannot reconsider currently given the recent behavior of this person, but if this person re-registers and stays within our simple policies (currently just stay away from foul language), we have no problem with that, and will welcome the poster's contribution to this board. If after doing this for a few days, the poster wants the old IDs re-instated, we will consider it at that time. We are sympathetic to the frustration experienced by this person as can be seen in the post of January 12, 2008 03:53 AM in this thread: http://discuss.ilw.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/902603441/m/11410615341 but we do not want foul language on this board - by any person, whether on the "pro" side or the "anti" side of the opinion divide.

I would like to introduce order and structure step by step and assess what happens at each stage. The reason is that the more the structure, the greater the overhead of time imposed on someone - either on me or on a volunteer moderator from this community. It is in everyone's interest to have structure, and equally, it is in everyone's interest to have only as much structure as really needed. That's why I am moving forward one step at a time. Lets finalize the proposed draft this week, and maybe we can move on to your ideas in a couple of weeks. I will at that time make another request for comment, and if we continue to have problems that the community wishes addressed, we will move on to more elaborate rules.

As I mentioned before in my postings, wikipedia has shown the world that quantity and quality are related concepts - with high quantity, we get high quality, however, with low quantity, quality is more variable. I am looking at overall numbers for the board in assessing the rules' impact - I will NOT be influenced by the specific numbers for a particular poster - if that poster violates our rules - out he/she goes. And as I have said before, the rules are a working document. Lets begin with a few rules, and add more rules as needed over time. I am here every working day until further notice (except in case of sickness or vacation), so we will have ample opportunity for a dialog on taking this board to bigger and better destinations.

I did check the board yesterday and today - just want to assure everyone that if I dont post, it does not mean I am not here. Since there have been no more comments on the rules above in this thread, I will finalize the draft as offered above as our board's soon-to-become new rules. The new rules will be effective upon posting in the sticky at the top of the discussion board. That should happen sometime tomoro. As soon as that is complete, lets move on to the issue raised by Sprint_girl07 concerning the levels of members, and the appearances thereof. I will start a separate thread for that either on Friday or first thing next week. Thanks again for participating, and I look forward to continuing to work together with you on making our community larger and more vibrant over time.
