Guys,

A friend of mine is a USC and wants to marry his girlfriend; apparently she does not have a status in USA. She used to have H1 status but she has been out of status of the last 2 years.
Should he expect any problems if he marries her? Would she have to go back to her home country while the paperwork is in process?

She wont have any problems. He should marry her and then file the papers that are needed. She should not leave the Us in the meantime.

They won't encounter any problems because of the fact that he is a U.S citizen. Immigration law forgives her illegal status and allows her to petition to adjust (in other words, become a legal perm. resident).
Tell him to go the uscis.gov, click the Immigration Services and Benefits Programs link, then click the Green Cards (LPR) link, then the Family Member link. He will find all of the info he needs there, what forms to fill out, and so on.
