When I went to my interview, I was told that it could take up to 180 days (6 months). Has anyone had to wait more than 180 days? What happens after the 180 days? Thanks

Before anyone can give you advice, we will need more detailed information. You provide almost no specifics in your post. What exactly is supposed to take 180 days?

Well, I went to my AOS interview. Was told and given a letter saying that my security checks were not complete and that it could take up 180 days. I'm just wondering what happens after 180 days.

Well, obviously, the final decision on your AOS application cannot be made until your security clearance has been completed...whether this takes 180 days or three years.

As soon as your security clearance has been completed, USCIS will make a final decision on your application for AOS. If your security clearance hasn't been completed within the estimated 180 days...NOTHING will happen.

There are so many people struck at AOS for years waiting to be adjudicated. USCIS / FBI conduct several security checks and all of them need to be completed and your priority date has to be current as well.

What is your basis of AOS? Family based? Employement based? Please provide more information to provide a clear answer.

Thanks

Thanks for the response.
It's family based. My step-dad is a USC and my mom is currently a LPR who has just applied for citizenship. My priority date is current. During the interview, she double checked just to make sure and she said it was current. At one point during the interview, she walked out to make a copy of my mom's green card. She left my file open. There was a sheet on top that that said...FBI Name Check, No Record. I thought it was kinda weird at the end of the interview for her to tell me that my checks weren't complete. For some reason, I have 2 different A#'s. She did tell me that she couldn't approve it because she needed those files. They needed to be all together in one file. She told me that I need to wait for that to happen. Is that the security check that she was talking about? Thanks
